I am majorly confused.. I have all puzzles done, all I need is 1 rare bug, I have baught all the techs. I have no idea what to do.. I have 8 totems and have no idea where to put them.. can someone plz help me!

To chicmomma:

The bugs show up randomly. There's nothing you can do to trigger the last one you need.

The totems can go anywhere that pleases you. They don't really serve any function except to collect them and look nice.

How do you earn tech points????

Reply

To Arielle:

To earn tech points -

You earn tech points by having villagers work at the research table. Once they get enough experience to be Master Scientists, they will earn more tech points than the others. You can also earn tech points by picking up duplicate collectibles. If you already have an item in your collection, it will earn tech points if you pick it up again. Lastly, you sometimes get extra tech points from random island events that happen. You have no control over those.

Reply

To Arielle

I read a comment a few pages back that said if you see a collectible, pause the game, and put all of your children on it, and the kids will pick it up multiple times. I found that this works, but it works best when it's a new item that you don't already have. I did this with a butterfly that I didn't have, and I got an instant 5000 when the kids picked it up!

i have one totem.. how many do i need to get the last piece of the gong?
do the totems leave when the person that got it dies?

Reply

To banana:

About the totem -

You only need one totem to get the last gong piece. Set it in the center of the mosaic when it's completed and the gong piece will appear. Also, totems do not disappear when the villager dies.

Reply

Ok, I've completed all the puzzles, so now what? And the Gong of Wonder is useless! It's basically: "The Gong takes health..." or "The Gong takes food...". Why can't the Gong GIVE something?! I may move on to vv3...

Reply

To katti:

About the Gong of Wonder -

The Gong does give things. I've had it give food, technology, and wisdom. Giving wisdom gave the villager who rang it a totem because they were already masters in two trades. The wisdom maxed out a third!

The game can go on indefinitely, but there are no more puzzles or anything. And... Virtual Villagers 3 is great fun. :)

If you are studying the herbs then use a master scientist because this is faster.

Puzzle six is completed when you have sufficiently trained a villager to become master in three skills. That villager will become an Esteemed Elder, and a totem will be created to commemorate their new status in the village.

I think I found a glitch in my game. I recently reinstalled the game after changing my operating system, and when I got to

the part where I have to catch an algae-eating fish, it doesn't work; the villager catches the fish, brings it to the ocean, but the ocean doesn't get cleaned up at all.

Anyone experienced something similar?

Reply

To Irene:

About the algea eating fish -

It takes more than one algea eating fish to clean the ocean. I just drop a bunch villagers into the pond and they form a line walking to the ocean until it clears up. It could take 10 villagers or so.

Hi guys, I've been playing VV2 for a week now, and I have reached the end but I can't seem to get puzzel 14. I have dropped the totem in the center and even tried the Esteemed Elder but nothing works. I don't want my Elder to die before I find out that I actually needed him. PLEASE HELP ME!!!
Or could it be that I solved my puzzels not according to how I should have?
Thanks

To Coldfingers:

About puzzle 14 -

It doesn't matter which order you solve the puzzles, but you do need to have puzzles 6 and 10 completed (you need a totem and you need to have the ancient mosiac uncovered). You should be able to drop the totem in the exact center of the mosiac (there's a circle in the middle you can use). Once that is done, a piece of the gong will be laying in the middle.

I hope this is helpful.

Reply

To Sara,

If you're talking about the picture where the villagers are all standing in a row on the mosiac, I think that might be posed. I've been running three tribes for a very long time and they've never done anything like that.

My current amusement is to dress everyone who works in the same trade in the same clothing. That way, I can keep up with them easier when they go off task. I'm trying to see how many totems I can get, so once they make Master, I change their trade AND their clothes. Builders wear blue, Scientists wear red, and Farmers wear green.

I also let the tribe die down to around 25 and then have tons of babies because it's just hilarious when you have 50 little kids running around playing tag. :)

My daughter and I are playing VV2 and we're really stuck on the gong piece in the pond. We know about the stew and we've made it. People eat the stew and the message about not feeling the need to breathe comes up. But nothing happens when we move them to the pond or up to the rock to jump into the pond.

Do we need a certain tech level or a villager with a certain skill for this?

Reply

Hi BreatheDeep.

About the gong piece -

After feeding the stew to the villager and getting the message that there's no need to breathe, are you actually dropping the villager into the pool? It takes a moment, but when you drop the villager directly into the water, he/she will swim down to the bottom for the gong piece. No special technology is necessary.

Reply
BreatheDeep July 12, 2008 9:24 PM

Hi, Pam.

Yes, we tried putting the villagers over the water. They all just "enjoyed the pond."

Reply

BreatheDeep,

It's been awhile since I played that part and I'm trying to remember what the catch is. Try dropping Master level villagers.

Reply
BreatheDeep July 14, 2008 1:20 PM

Two Things:

1) The gong piece in the deep water. We finally got it. It seems we had to put a Master Scientist over the pond. Not on the diving rock, but directly over the water.

2) We have level 3 Engineering and Level 3 Exploration, but when we put someone on the ancient ruins it still says, "more research may be needed". Do you also have to have level 3 Culture?

Thanks in advance.

Reply

To BreatheDeep:

That's what I meant by dropping the villager directly into the water. :)

I think maybe Culture may be needed for the mosiac. It's also needed to clear the vines.

To Pahira:

About the birds and crops (from Puzzle 3 spoiler above) -

You need a scarecrow that an adept farmer can construct in order to protect the crops from the birds. Drag an adept or master farmer to the twisted pieces of wood and vines that are located in the northern portion of the village. The scarecrow requires two trips to complete, so make sure that you finish the construction, or your crops will not be protected.

To Bethany:

About the dry grass -

The dry grass is located at the upper left of the screen, beside the herb. Here is a screenshot to help you: http://images.jayisgames.com/hs_pam_virtualvillagers2_drygrass.jpg

About making stews (from Puzzle 9 spoiler above) -

To make stew, you will need to have purchased Level 2 of Exploration Tech, retrieved the cauldron from the wood pile, mastered at least one of the special plants, and started a fire in the fire pit. The steps to make a stew are: 1) Drop a villager on the cauldron to put the cauldron on the fire 2) Drop a villager on the cauldron again, and he or she will go get water for the stew 3) Drop a villager on any of the mastered plants, and the villager will gather herbs for the stew. Each stew requires a total of 3 herbs, in any combination. 4) Drop a villager on the cauldron again, and he or she will go get food to add to the stew. When the stew is complete, the villager will move the cauldron off the fire. Some stews are good, some are bad, and some make your villagers do interesting things. Experiment and have fun with them. You can also find different "recipe books" that have been created for the game that contain all of the stew combinations.

You need to have purchased level 3 Farming Tech. I think you're at the right pond; it's where the waterfall is. Drop Master Farmers and/or Master Scientists to retrieve the algae eating fish. You'll need several of them, so just keep dropping them into the pond until the algae in the ocean is gone.
