The final gong piece uunder the ancient floor - putting the totem on the floor dosent make it appear - what do i do now?

About the gong piece -

This is a known bug that has been long fixed by the developer of the game. You need to go back to the site where you originally purchased the game and download the current version. Save it on top of your existing game and you shouldn't lose any of your progress.

Hi I finished all the puzzles and thought I would carry on to see how many elders I could get. Today I got one of their little boxes to say all the infants had been taken in the night and no one knows where they have gone. What I want to know is Has anyone carrried on playing this game well after they have all the puzzles. I feel there is more to come .Does any one know

Reply

To Rose:

Wow. I've never had infants taken in the night. That's sad.

I've had three tribes running for quite some time after completing all the puzzles. One tribe has reached the max number of totems. It will play indefinitely unless something happens to kill your tribe, but nothing more happens with the story.

Reply

Thanks Pam
Just thought the story might carry on because of the hints through the game. It doesn't carry on in VV3 because I've got that. I wish they would make a carry on . I love VV2 it is better than VV3

I was wondering if anyone had cataloged all the island events? I'm trying to figure out if I've experienced them all.

Reply

Hi grinnyp:

I haven't seen all of the island events cataloged. I have three tribes running with all puzzles solved and I still get new events!

Reply

Ok so I put the totem in the middle of the mosaic and the last gong piece appeared.. a villager picked it up but never took it to the gong and now its gone.. Anyone else have this happen??

Reply

To Kitten:

Was that the last gong piece that you needed? I've seen villagers store a gong piece in the hut beside the research table until they were all collected. Otherwise, it might be part of the bug in that game that has been long fixed. You can go back to the site where you originally purchased the game and download it again. Save it on top of your existing game and you shouldn't lose any progress.

Reply

This may be a silly question, but how do you earn enough tech points to buy tech, culture, farming and stuff? I'm new to the game. Please help.

Reply

Hi Lilly.

Tech points are earned by doing research. Just drop a villager on the research table. Also, read through the walkthrough on this page for helpful hints and how to solve the puzzles.

Reply

I have all the puzzles done. I am stuck on how to ring the gong. I have one esteemed elder.

Reply

Lizzy,

Just drop a villager on the gong to ring it.

I've played and beat vv1 and am about a third of the way through vv2. I was playing today and got a notification that one of the children remembered something about how they all disappeared. Has anyone seen this before is it actually relevant within the rest of the game?

Reply

To Jessica:

That's just part of the story told in VV2. It's somewhat relevant, but it's not one of the actual puzzles.

Reply

I have a big problem. None of people are growing any older. They still earn points and everything, but half the women in my tribe are carring around babies that won't grow up and I cant find a game patch. If any one could help me I would really appreciate it.

Reply

To JIGuest:

I haven't heard of that particular bug. Try exiting the game to reset it. Maybe also start a second tribe and see if the same thing happens. You might end up needing to download the game again from the site where you originally purchased it.

Reply

Today I had something called "blessings day". I have about 70 villagers and maybe 35 totems. They all march around the ocean. I've never seen it before, but it's cool.
Also, when I drop an adept parent on a child, she teaches the children. Is there an advantage to this? I never really checked to see if it made the children have higher skill levels.

Reply

To Dawn:

I believe the children do get some skill when they are taught by an Adept or Master Parent. The adult villager also gains parenting skill for it. Less than Adept can tell children stories, too.

Reply

I have level 3 engineering & exploration, but when I drag my villagers to uncover the mosaic floor, it says additional reseach may be necessary. I thought you only needed level 3 engineering & exploration.

Reply

To Sandie:

The walkthrough says level 3 of Engineering and Exploration. The only thing I can suggest is to close the game, then open it back up and maybe it will reset and let you clear the mosaic.

Hi, newbie here. I have a major bug, or at least it's major enough. I'm playing on a trial version, just to see if the game is good, and so I'm not left with all the time in the world. Problem is: "real-time gameplay" doesn't happen here. I could go away for a week and nothing new happens. Is this a known bug?

Reply

Hi Mini:

If you're on a trial version, you should only have an hour to play and that won't allow any "real time" play anyway. If you leave the game running for a week on the trial version, I would think time would run out almost immediately, unless you put the game on pause.

Can you be more specific about what's not happening and what your situation is?

Reply

Sandy,
I read the same thing...and planned my strategy accordingly, unfourtunately i found that you need level 3 science before they will explore the ruins!!
Now i have level 3 of everything and i have directed them all to building to complete the final tasks! seems to be working!

Reply

Kitten,
You are most likely finished with the game already but for anyone else who has the same issue...if you drop the totem in the middle of the mosaic again the piece will reappear so the can try to place it again.

Reply

Well. it's just, I've been playing the first and third VV and I've been able to play with real-time, but not with the VV2. So, is the first and third version of my VV messed up then?

Reply

To Mini:

I don't think your VV and VV3 are messed up. However, I'm still having trouble understanding exactly what problem you are having. What do you mean that you can't play in real time?

Reply

Well... Maybe it's just my understand of what "real-time" means. I think it means the game is still running, like, the villagers still do work etc.etc, even when the game isnt on. So what I mean is, is that when I play VV2, even when I set my villagers to a certain task, and I watch for a little bit to make sure they're doing it, and I wait overnight or something, the percent completed would still be the same. That's about as well as I can put it, sorry if you still dont understand =(

Reply

To Mini:

Yes, Virtual Villagers 2 is supposed to run in real time the way you describe it. Unless you have the game on pause, you should see progress on projects and tech points if you leave the game for awhile. Possibly you have the game set on slow speed and it's not doing very much.

Try closing the game and open it back up to reset it. If this doesn't work, you may need to download the game again. If you download it from the site where you originally purchased it, you won't lose any progress in your game because it will save on top of your existing game.

Reply

Anybody know how to get the gong piece in the encasement? I put someone on it and they just admire it and leave.

Reply

To N/A:

Check the walkthrough at the top of the comments. Look under the part that has details of all puzzles.

Reply

Hey Pam. I've been working on my VV2 thing all alone until gong pieces and i finished my mosaic before I got the gong piece. Now the totem pole doesn't show the piece. What am I doing wrong? Do I have to start over? I don't want to kill my precious children. They're like my family.

Reply

To Nathan:

You can't get that gong piece until the mosiac is cleared. Then you need to drop a totem in the middle, which will make the gong piece appear. Try exiting the game and re-starting to see if it will reset, if this doesn't work. Also, this was once a known bug, so you may have to go back to the site where you originally purchased the game and download the updated version. You shouldn't lose your game or progress if you download from the original site.

I am having trouble getting esteemed elders as my healers can only heal when people are sick. Also, I can't figure out how to get my villagers building skills increased. All the huts are built (including sewing hut) and fixing the huts just doesn't give enough skill to increase to "master". I have 2 totems but is there anyway to increase building or healing skill? Thank.s

Reply

To Wendy:

If you've already built all the projects, fixing huts is the only way you can gain building skill.

Healing isn't really the best way to make Esteemed Elder. The best three are Building, Research, and Farming. Building, of course, takes the longest.

I know how I'm supposed to create the 3rd puzzle after the birds come to eat my produce, but when I put an Adept Farmer in the north, it says that he's confused and needs a cutting tool -- I thought that was supposed to be for later. Why is this not working now?

There is no right or wrong way to handle the random island events. They just make the game a little more interesting and you get different outcomes with the different choices. Sometimes the outcomes are good and sometimes they are bad. Sort of like life. :)

I love VV2. Ages ago, I had a population of 83 and most of the puzzles done and my little sister accidently deleted my tribe.
I gave up hope after that, but rediscovered it this afternoon and now I'm hooked again! I just love watching my little villagers run around.
I got a random event half way in too, and my two eldest villagers swapped bodies! The girl was the guy and the guy was the girl..

I changed their names back just to make it a whole lot less disturbing, but it was hilarious!

If you are placing the totem exactly in the center of the mosaic, you're probably not doing anything wrong. However, that was a known bug in the game when it first came out. You may want to go back to the site where you originally purchased the game and download it again to make sure you have the most current version with the bugs fixed.

Hey uh just wondering, what exactly does the gong do when you ring it? is it worth doing every 24 hours?

-Blake :PP

Reply

To Blake:

The gong does several things.

It grants food, wisdom, and technology. But it also takes youth and food. The best one is when it grants wisdom. If the villager who rang the gong already has master level in two trades, the gong will make him master in a third by granting wisdom... and the villager gets a totem.

can anybody help me,
I almost done with the game but something bad happened, all my villager had die it' said something about the experiment gone wrong, can anyone tell me what do i forgot to do something? why is that happen?

Reply

To JIGuest:

I've been playing this game for quite awhile and I've never seen what you are describing. Villagers will die of starvation and castrophic events, but I've never seen anything about an experiment going wrong. If your villagers were thriving with plenty to eat, plenty of shelter, and solving the puzzles, I don't think you were doing anything wrong.

Reply

just for those who have trouble developing elders (mostly women) before they die.

just drop them onto children and they will teach. this gives them parenting skill, and obviously they wont get pregnant, or if they are guys, they wont get the children pregnant. you can also continue doing it when the little tip says 'this villager has improved at parenting' by taking them and one child, repeating, and they continue to get skill

some people may know or already posted this, but i havent read all the posts (23 pages!!) anyway, hope this helps for anyone who is too lazy to go through all of the posts like me!

Hi, everybody.
I recently bought Virtual Villagers 2 and I love it. The first time I played, three times events came in the game. But now, I've been playing more than four hours and no events at all.

So my question is: Is there any way to make island events happen more often? I even changed date/hour in my pc, re-started and nothing! Can anybody please help me?

Sorry for bad English, not American.

Reply

To rebakan:

First, let me say that it's a very bad idea to change the date and time on your computer clock. It can mess up your game and other things on your computer. I've heard many stories about how doing this caused so many problems.

Next, there really is no way you can change or trigger the island events. They are random and happen at random times. I don't think there's anything wrong with your computer. Sometimes they come fast and sometimes they come very slow.

Thanks for answering me so soon. It's really frustating that i don't get any event doesn't matter what I do or how long I play.Even so, thanks very much, I do appreciate it.

to make the scarecrow

drag a master scientist to the 'twisted vines' section up at the top. it's beneath the pile of boulders. i believe you have to have level 2 of farming and construction. c-to build the crops in the first place as you should know. f- i dont know but it didnt work until i bought it. i havent finished it, but still. also, my villager was also an adept farmer, so i would choose a master scientist with farming experience, or an elder

There is a list of the herbs and stews up at the top.
the purple herb

is in between the thorny bushes/gong placement area and the rocks/cutting tool/graveyard.

the black

is just above the cliff where the villagers dive into the pond. It looks like a string of violet-black flowers

the orange

is at the center bottom screen.

the red

is in between the dam and the mosaic, it is on the right 'wall'.

the brown

is at the top just to the left of the dry grass area.

Hope I helped! Sorry for no screenshots though.

ok update!!! the "purple herb" in my last post is the BLUE.
the REAL purple

is located between the rocks/cutting tools and the graveyard, its on the top side

Hi Jennifer. I sent you a comment as a guest that didn't show up yet. I thanked you for your help. You helped me a lot with the herbs. But now one more question. Is there any herb combination to make triplets or twins to be born? Don't know why, but when I get 13 villagers, two or three die suddenly. So, I can't go out of ten villagers. Thanks in advance.

Reply

Hi. I'm Milly. I hope you can answer my question.

On VV2, I dont get that many random events. Well, I feel like i should get more. I have been playing for a while now and I have had 2 - 4 random ones and it's just so annoying because I like random events.

Also, why do some villagers, I set them a task for example get water for the stew and I minimize the screen and do something else on the computer and when I look back at VV2. there is no water in stew and the person I set the task for is researching! The only thing he doesnt like is coconuts.

Reply

To rebakan:

About twins and triplets -

You can't trigger twins or triplets. They come later in the game after you have purchased level 3 medicine and your village is thriving and healthy.

It's important to keep your village growing. Keep having babies and building huts. Here's a hint for having babies faster.

You don't have to wait for the couple to "go indoors". The baby happens when you hear the kissing sound. Keep dropping them on top of each other over and over until you see the population counter go up or the femals is carrying a baby.

Reply

To Milly:

Random island events are exactly that... random. There's nothing you can do to increase them. Sometimes you get more and sometimes you get less. This is a very long game and they will simply pop up randomly along the way.

When you set a villager on a task, you need to stay on the screen until the task is finished. If you minimize or toggle away, the task gets interrupted and you have to start it again.

I hope this is helpful. :)

hello, I think I just found out a new tip if anyone else already doesn't know it.Maybe it works in my computer but not in others, here it is:
If you click in the candle that is in the top of the Research Table (Left side almost near the entrance) it will increase Tech Points very fast! You must click many times to get all the points you need it.Try see if it works for you rebakan

Reply

Sorry, I was really happy to find out a new tip, but unfortunately it doesn't happen always. I think you need a master scientist near the table to work. Sorry again!

To Rebakan:

Master Scientists always generate more tech points. That's probably what you're seeing.

thanks!

By the way how do you uncover the mosaic thingy? I did the dam.

I am having two problems. I don't know what to do:

When I got 14 villagers, there were two places to build a hut, but as the ocean was full of algae, I put everybody to research. Now the ocean is clean, I have 16 villagers, but no place to build new huts. The marks on the floor disappeared completely!

The second problem is - I want everybody to work on Harvest, since it will take 1300 minutes to grow again, but everybody only wants fishing!

What should I do? Thanks for all your help.

Reply

To Milly:

Check puzzle #10 in the detailed spoilers at the top of this page. It will explain the mosaic.

Reply

To Rebakan:

When you hit a population of 17, you should get a new foundation to build a hut. 17 is the maximum population for your current housing.

When your farm is between harvests,

your villagers will tend to go fishing because that's where they can get food. They will go back to the farm when the crops come in. The timer on the harvest won't change no matter how many villagers you put on it. The only advantage to putting villagers on the farm between harvests is to gain farming skill or if you have a farmer who is afraid of the ocean.

Reply

What is the point of the mosaic other then the piece of the gong. is there any thing else you can do with it?

Reply

To Kery:

The mosaic helps complete two puzzles of the game: the mosaic itself and the gong piece. Also, you won't be able to ring the gong if it's not assembled. It's just another of the things to do on the island.
