DoraWilliam and SlyIf you think you're familiar with the work of Lucas Paakh, think again. Just released, William and Sly is a gorgeous adventure set in a world of melancholic beauty and high fantasy. You play Sly, a small fox living with William. You'd love nothing better than to spend your days leaping through the trees in search of mushrooms, especially those hidden away by greedy gnomes, but today William needs your help. The elaborate teleportation system he set up has suddenly become deactivated, and it's up to you to find out why and fix it with the help of the mysterious fairyflies. Just be careful of where you step, as the sinister Darklings are also after the fairyflies... for an entirely different reason.

The world outside William's door is enormous. Rain-slicked mountains, towering fir trees, and hidden caverns await your exploration. Tapping [shift] will bring up your objectives screen, and your map when you finally gain one. Use the [WASD] or [arrow] keys to move around, and tap [up] or [W] to leap. Don't be afraid to fall, because Sly can take anything you throw at him. In fact, the silky-smooth control scheme practically begs you to push it to its limits and run, leap, and maybe even soar your way to discover every hidden item. The game is a stunner, with a haunting soundtrack and incredibly smooth visuals.

Analysis: The downside is that as fun as it is to play, you'd better enjoy it while you've got it. If you're not intent on exploring the map for all it's worth, you can actually finish the game rather quickly. Is it still fun? Oh yes, tremendously. But it winds up feeling like a chunk of a much larger game rather than a complete one on its own. The tidbits of the mythos behind it we're offered hint at a much bigger world, and after activating all the stones I would have liked to have been able to explore it further. In a way, this is actually a mark in its favour; leaving someone craving more can be a big compliment.

William and Sly feels like the casual gameplay equivalent of one of those relaxation CDs, only instead of whale songs we've got a lovely landscape to explore with some very fun platforming. The area design is actually well laid-out, and with how big the map is I'm a little flabbergasted at the amount of work that must have gone into it. The platforms and trees are placed at logical intervals so running and leaping through them feels natural and breezy, and you'll get more adept at spotting corners where hidden mushrooms may lie. If you're looking for an epic journey, William and Sly may fall short for you, but taken as a treat rather than a full meal, it's still a gorgeous game with a lot to offer.

Wings

To get wings, which you will need to reach some areas, stand on the pedestal in the second temple for a about a minute.

The boss:

He will pass by either on the top, or on the bottom, with his mouth closed. That place will be safe when he passes by the next time with his mouth open. After he passes by go back to the middle and see where he is going with his mouth closed the next time and go there.

I'm trapped at the end.

I'm stuck in a room with some kind of giant ghost-snake. I can't get enough flies to activate the stone because every time I get one or two, the snake flies by and eats them.

Yah...

I have a feeling I should have collected enough fireflies before entering... Although, maybe the snake eats them before you can use them anyway? I shut it off because the snake was too frustrating. Maybe someone will find a more methodical way to beat him. Seemed too random to me.

Call me a quitter.

I loved the feeling of the game, however... Gorgeous graphics, quite, simple story.

I really like the

meditating to gain your wings.

This has to be one of the smoothest, most visually stunning flash games I've ever seen. Controls are precise and instant, and having to not watch yourself, but instead your 'entourage' creates a lovely spin that at the same time makes the game both easy and difficult.

The mythology we're introduced to is also something that perks my personal interest. Just little hints here and there, but enough that it makes me wonder if there's an entire world out there...

My only regret about the game is that it's WAY too short. And also too easy. It's like Knytt Lite. But still... It's pretty. And you get to control a fox. How awesome is that??

Yeah, I tried collecting enough fairyflies before entering the place...

They get eaten as soon as you touch the stone.

The transformation of what was a relaxing exploration-based game into some kind of reflex platformer ruined the entire thing for me. Unless there's some clever trick to it, this last area is just too difficult to be fun.

The end was tough!

You have to time the snake, he seems to do 2 low, 2 high, second pass is with his mouth closed and he doesn't take fairyflies away. If you time it right it's not too hard.

I really liked the shrine halfway through.

The boss fight came out of left field and was really frustrating, unlike the more serene exploration of the rest of the game. It didn't even have a satisfying ending =( Basically a "Good job!" and a score tally.

I consider myself a pretty thorough explorer, but I couldn't find two of the switches. Those gnomes were just too sly for me, I guess. The medals suggest there's a way to turn off the rain but I couldn't figure it out.

It annoyed me that I couldn't collect extra fairies and take out the last of the slime monsters.

I greatly enjoyed 90% of the game. The other 10% was totally counter to my explorer and completionist tendencies.

When I first started, all it did was remind me of Knytt.

A great game, I like the graphics and the mood.
The ambient sound track appeared and disappeared throughout the game, not sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing.
The fox is cute, controls are smooth, and it's difficult to find everything.

I finished with 37k or so. The challenge at the end was simple, yet good. I really liked the music then.

I do wish there was some more cohesion and story, instead of just dropping you into the game.

Overall, I do wish to see some sequel or something with a story, and an expansive landscape.

I didn't get how to get the wings. =[ I stood on the block for a while but nothing happened. Was I supposed to stay there even more? -.-

At the end:

I found the best way to go about it is to just wait for it to pass one way, then as soon as the tail passes, move up and around to the other side, getting the fairyflies as you see them. Then just drop down and wait again. It'd took a while, but worked in the end.

Final boss:

He has two runs, upper and lower. First he runs with his mouth shut in the one run, then he runs with his mouth open in the other. Generally the first run is in the opposite zone to where you're standing.

So the simple way to win is:

- wait somewhere until you see him run with his mouth shut
- move to that zone
- grab any fairies that happen to be in the zone you moved to

I agree with others about the end.

The endgame needs to be less about reflexes and more about cleverness. As it is, it's very frustrating to the kind of player who would play all the way through.

I think there's a trick, sorta:

I really never quite figured out what the trick or pattern was to the snake's movement. It has something to do with where the snake sees you on the mouth-closed pass, but I couldn't pin down if it was at the beginning or the end of the pass, and I would sometimes still be surprised by where it showed up. Whatever it is, though, it's NOT a fixed pattern--if you stay in the same spot the snake always passes at the same height.

easy way to beat the snake:

a easy way to beat the snake at the end is just to wait till there are enough fireflies to spawn then start from the top and run down till you get at least 5 and touch the rune stone

Once you get the wings, go to the temple with the tree and go left to the runestone. Just above you is the spire switch, and that leads to the rune switch.

It was nice and pretty and all, but I played Knytt, and Knytt is way, way more entertaining than this. I mean, for the last two thirds of William and Sly, I was trying to figure out how to explain why I didn't like this game, while playing. It just wasn't fun.

(Spoiler so I can write a lot)

I've got two things against this game. Yeah, it's pretty, and the fairyflies floating around was an amazing effect, and there's nothing in the game technically wrong, but it just feels so pointless. And it's more than a story. The keys weren't "hidden" in places you needed to figure out how to find; they were almost exclusively stuck behind sprites so that you had to touch every space of ground to find them. Finding hidden passages was trial and error against every wall. In Knytt, there were almost no hidden passages; what you needed to do was work through a huge area, from every direction, and figure out what powers you needed to get between places. Here it was just a linear run and jump fest, with mushrooms and keys to add more "gameplay".

The other thing was, there was no variety. Nothing new. Ever. Okay, the boss was different, but that was just taking the game we've had so far and chucking it out the window so we can play a different one. Ten minutes in, once you know about all the different parts, it was a long, long level 1. And adding in temple blocks doesn't count as variety.

And, to add my sentiments with everyone else, seriously, what the hell was with that boss?

I found the ending not so hard once you got the flow of it.

When the snake flies with its mouth shut, it won't take away fairyflies. If it flies with its mouth shut low, then it'll fly with its mouth open high, and if its mouth is closed when it flies high, it'll fly with its mouth open low. It's not as hard after that.

switches:
Spire Bridge:

Go to the 5th rune, the switch is directly above you. I think you need wings to get to it.

Swan Bridge:

Go to 9th rune, drop to next plateau (about 1 screen width to the right) and you should see the switch under your feet. To get to it, jump off the next cliff and fall all the way down until you are directly under the switch. Jump up and left to get inside the cliff and keep jumping up and left until you get to the switch.

Rune Bridge:

Switch is on the spire bridge island.

Actually, one thing I'm wondering about--how do you reactivate your 'glow'--or are there at least three spots where there's two darklings close enough to a runestone to get them both in one go? I'm wondering this since there's only 12 usable stones, but 15 darklings. :-/

To destroy the darklings:

Whenever you first activate a runestone, you will glow white for a short period. During this time you can touch a darkling to destroy it. If you miss out, though, too bad, because there's no way to get the glow without activating a new stone.

I can't reach one chest (is located on top of a 'temple' structure halfway between the 4th and 5th runestone with a very high floating island with two mushrooms on it nearby)

even with wings I have found no way to reach that roof and the neighboring island.

Awesome atmosphere and characters! I'm not sure why it was called "William and Sly" though, since there wasn't much William at all.

Definitely wish it was longer... could have had more areas, more mechanics, and some more in-depth story that would motivate me to go back and play again to find all the mushrooms and kill all the enemies. But then it would probably have ended up as a PC-only download and I wouldn't have gotten to play it.

Sequel please!

For the giant snake thing, the pattern was high with mouth open, then with mouth closed, then low with mouth open, then with closed. it just repeats that.

There's a tree within that temple. Jump on that, then jump up a couple more times.

Someguy, here's how to get that chest you're talking about.

There's a tree in the middle of the temple structure which has a secret perch you can stand on to get a leg up.

Also, while you're there, make sure to

search both edges of the temple roof-- there's a secret mushroom on its left edge, and also (if you have your wings already), to do a flying jump off the left edge for that little mushroom island there.

Finally, a platformer with a character who has a little jumping power! And who doesn't skid off things just as he lands. I like running a good, competent fox :) .

I love this! The controls are so smooth, I actually feel like I'm the fox. Sly is awesome, because he can't die after a huge fall, is really fast, and LANDS when he jumps. All that has earned this game an A in my book. And don't even get me started on the visuals and sound quality! They are STELLAR. Everything I've seen so far has been brilliant, but I'm far from finished. I kinda got lost, but that was a good thing, because it made me start to explore. Usually I just bulldoze through to the endpoint in games, but that's impossible in this one. The guy who made this is a genius.

This was pretty fun, but I found there weren't any incentives to find all the hidden stuff. For example, I found all three switches and all I got out of it was ~10 mushrooms (out of something like 185), what's the point? Same for the chests, keys were so hard to come by that it would probably take literal hours to track all of them down, and for what, a few more mushrooms? It's not like the mushrooms even do anything, they're not a reward at all. Also, the boss fight was annoying. Still, it wasn't bad.

As with Fancy Pants, I love the game controls and the freedom of exploring my environment. Then comes a final boss who is... annoying and seemingly unbeatable. I would like to be able to back out of the boss fight. I would also like the boss to be... more beatable.

Yeah, just reaffirm the easy way to win the ending is just hang out and wait awhile for all the fireflies to appear.

I grabbed the first one and let the snake creature take it from me and then I just waited. It took about a minute and then all five fireflies were on the top level. waited until the snake creature went by and grabbed them all quickly and headed down to the stone.

End of game.

This game is fantastic in both art and gameplay. It's definitely one of the most impressive flash games to come out in the last few years and will definitely go down as one of the best created of all time.

And a second time through, it was still cute. I got all of the chests, killed 11 thingies, and left fewer than 20 mushrooms behind.

As a side-note, I think canines actually do like mushrooms. Some dogs can be trained to hunt them for you, the real trick is to get one who will find the rare mushroom and then sit and wait for you to catch up, instead of devouring it.

I would not say that it's the best of all the flash games since I still love orisinal games very deeply and considered them the best. This however might actually come in second place.

I enjoyed this, but wanted to enjoy it a lot more. When I first started playing, I thought "Ooooh, I'm gonna like THIS!" And at first I did. It is visually stunning, not in a dazzling way but in a beautiful way. My kind of beautiful. The controls are great and the jumps graceful.

But the longer I played, I found myself waiting for something new to happen. I'd find a chest and get excited to find a key, then discover it was only a couple of mushrooms. Just a beginning teaser, I thought. But that's all every chest had. Same for the switches.

It's an okay game, but I was ultimately disappointed. It needs more elements. And the final fight was just... well, dumb. Despite the drawbacks, I'm glad I played it and I believe the designer has great potential. I look forward to more from him.

How to get the wings:

I actually feel stupid spoiling about this, because the sign in the Fly Temple says it all.
Simply sit on the pedestool and wait. After about a half a minute of meditation Sly can fly!

Love the atmosphere and the fox animation; am a bit stuck, though - it seems I can't get past the 'Spire Bridge' area.

Someone commented how cool it was to control a fox; I agree. I recently thought about how great it would be to have an exploration platformer where you control a cat, because cats are good at both jumping and climbing - anybody know of one like that, or perhaps want to make one? ;-)

The first time I played it, I just ran all the way through. But then I thought, I wonder if I can find all the mushrooms? The first time I was struggling to find the fireflies, but the second time I had like 20 fly around me at once. Sly seems to be magnetic - I can't stop getting keys, and I can't find all the chests. I found a good way to spot caves was to...

look for an overhang in the rock, it wasn't always a cave, but it was most of the time, all though every now and then I'd just fall :P lol

Here's how to beat the snake at the end.

Immediately go to where the snake passes when he has his mouth closed, he won't attack at that spot, he always goes somewhere else. Just see where he passes with his mouth closed, go there, and he will run through somewhere else with his mouth open.

I nearly enjoyed it. But for some reason the 'Shift' key wouldn't work. Sometimes if I banged away at the key it might catch it. Then I'd have to bang on it again to return. I probably could have continued without it but a bug like that makes me unwilling to stick with a game.

The fluidity of the fox's motions and jumping was really wonderful, though. I do like having a game where you really don't have to worry about jumps as you know it'll always take you some place interesting.
Magnus17 made some good points. I also didn't like the hidden areas, and think they might have been greatly improved by having them light up, perhaps, once you've got a full set of fairyflies (or when you're white).

Best game ever. Love the smooth movements, the music, graphics, and especially the fox! What could be better than a good computer game with a fox?

The boss was hard though. I finally waited long enough to let five fairyflies appear on the top. Then I waited and watched the snake. He seemed to do open mouth on top, then closed mouth on the bottom, then repeat, but he didn't do this all the time. I jumped on top after he passed, grabbed the fairyflies, and jumped for the runestone.

The boss would have been better if it had multiple levels and there were easier bosses before it. I agree, it does need to be a lot longer and with more variety. If it did, I don't think I'd ever stop playing.

meditating to get the wings

The end was tough at first but

if you sit there long enough and memorize the pattern of the snake's passes, you can jump around and catch the fairyflies.

He passes across the screen in a pattern:

on the bottom with mouth open, then bottom with mouth closed, then top with mouth open, and top with mouth closed...and it keeps repeating like that. So when you know his mouth is going to open, jump to the opposite side of the screen!

A lot of people are close and right about the end but I finally figured it out

The giant darkling shows it's move, if it passed by the top with it's mouth closed it'll be moving across the bottom with it's mouth open and vice versa

I love your game and it's addictive. I discovered the secret of the snake the 2nd time it attacked me and I hope you do another game or the second part with more things like the wings. I like the fox and for me it was perfect.

to kill the boss:

It's so easy when you know what to do, it goes by like this: Open mouth high, closed mouth high, Open mouth low, closed mouth low.
So what you do is just sit in the middle assuming you have zero flies. wait for it to pass by high with open mouth, then move up and find any flies in the top half if nothing if found wait a sec for it to pass by open low, you should have like 4-5 secs to look for flies in the top half. Then drop down as it has its mouth closed in the bottom half and look for flies. When you hear and see it passing by with open mouth up high you go up. then just repeat the pattern switching constantly between high and low and its done easily in like 3-4 minutes!

I cannot find all the keys for the chests. Can darklings eat them too or just the fireflies?

Kiara, You will find all the keys but you have to keep going back and forth to find them. What I have done is return to the game about five times and just press 'continue' and eventually found them all. Have still got five mushrooms to find though!

I got to the end with the snake and did all that but you can return to the game again and carry on finding mushrooms/keys/chests.

This game has got to be one of the best I have played in a very long time. The graphics are superb, the music is lovely, toggling rain and background is a good feature as well. The fox is just totally superb and the movements fluid and well done. Excellent game. I give it 10/10.

How to get the "Weather mage" achievement:

I can't get past the snake. Someone said the pattern was top open, top shut, bottom open, bottom shut, but thats not the case... I can't get all 5 fairyflies and get to the runestone in time... Help me please!

Ah, a nice, quiet serene game. A nice break from the violent games we are usually forced to play.
The game has much more meaning if you've spent some time in the Canadian rockies- waking up and smelling the cool mountain air, the birds are singing, the atmosphere seems to hum the same tune in the game... *sits up*
Moving on, I posted a comment to share the most accurate boss strategy.
Read Kero's post, he has everything else you'll need, but the boss strategy is more simple.

Next to the runestone (or the chest, I can't remember which) the middle platform. Sit in the middle. Stay for a while. You will notice that even with a FAIRYfly
(Not firefly, people!)
, the king darkling will not charge directly at you.
Now, when he passes with his mouth open, jump and find a fairyfly- quick!
You can memorize where they spawn rather easily.
And return to your spot. After you have 5, the cutscene will play and voila! You have beat the game.

Something I noticed that might help you beat the boss. I notice that the snake will have its mouth open twice before it closes it once and only once. I don't know, some of you may find that helpful, but the boss is ridiculous. Really the only way I beat was sheer dumb luck I think.

Guys the snake is very very very easy use this strategy and you will beat him in about a minute

Go into the cave (obviously) Go to the middle platform (the one with the rune) sit there for about 5 seconds then jump up. If you see a firefly on the very top platform GOOD BUT DON'T GET IT! Jump down to the bottom and once again IF YOU SEE A FIREFLY DON'T GET IT! Now jump back to the rune platform wait about 5-10 seconds then jump up and now 2 fireflies should be on the top platform ONCE AGAIN DON'T GET THEM!!... Now go back to the bottom and maybe more fireflies will be there... doesn't matter... jump back to the middle platform and repeat the process until 5 fireflies are on the top platform... once that happens time it with the snake so he doesn't eat them right after picking them up and sprint to the rune!

That whole process only takes about 2 minutes tops if it takes you longer then you are doing something wrong or probably should just quit playing flash games because its beyond easy with that strategy.

For people who are having trouble with the last rune, here is a little trick I used.

Now, you see, the giant Darkling has a pattern. Imagine the room cut in to two halves, the top half and the bottom half. It will go on the top half twice (once with mouth open, once with closed)and on the bottom half twice (same pattern). Wait untill it has it's mouth closed or stay on one half looking for farieflies.

If you want to turn off the rain, you just have to hover your mouse over the little "m" in the bottom right corner.

When the menu appears just select "rain off."

That last part was hard till i figured out the secret.

The snake does 2 passes on where ever you are at the time. First with mouth open the with mouth closed. So to beat him, you stand at the bottom, when the screen shakes, run to the top, collect fireflys, wait till screen shakes again, the run to the bottom collect fire flys. Do this till you have 5 of rthem, then touch the rune

Overall, I liked the game, but I still can't get the wings. Which temple is the one to meditate on top of?

Wow. Attractive, but I am so lost. Even with the map, I don't know what to do or where to go. I've made it to the cave with the three mushrooms. The one just past the sign that say something about another way to get up there. And I got that mushroom on the shelf.

But I can't figure out how to get to the caves to the right, or the outside above that cave. So I can't get to the first rune. Incredibly frustrating.

Just finished this game. Beautiful, and Sly must be the most elegant platforming character ever.
But seriously,

That snake took FOREVER. I got it in the end, as everyone else has said, wait til there's 5 fairyflies on the top, and the snake is at the bottom. Another bad point was the ending. All that work and you get a nap. hurrah?

I'd have liked more of a story, but a great game anyway.

The ending didn't really fit with the rest of the game :/

You spend your time gracefully jumping around, with a sparkly entourage of fairyflies making runes light up, and suddenly you have to run around and defeat THIS MASSIVE EVIL SNAKE ZOMG. And then yeah, the ending is like "well that was tiring *sleep*." More of a story please.

A sequel could be nice.

Is it possible that flying does not work for me?
I have acquired the wings but when I hold UP pressed, nothing happens. I have tried it stationary, while running, while falling, but no luck.

(My computer has Ubuntu with Adobe flash player and Firefox browser)

Is it possible that flying does not work for me? I acquired the ability, confirmed by the game, then I have tried holding the UP button while standing still, while running and while falling from a cliff, but did never work. I suspect that either my Ubuntu OS, or Firefox browser or the Linux version of Adobe's flash player might cause this bug. But nonetheless, it is VERY annoying.

Z, I am having a similar issue, I think. I have received the wings, and it tells me to "hold up" to use them. But when I do so, he just keeps jumping up and down. *Once* I saw a hint of wing, but it disappeared, and I can't get it back. I am running debian/iceweasel.

I otherwise really love the game, but this glitch is rather disappointing.

What you do to fly (once you have wings)is go the edge of something so that if you jumped off you'd be in the air for a while. Jump off and keep holding up and you should grow wings.

the wings will not come out right away, and they only come out once your in the air, so thats why you have to jump off something that will leave you in the air for longer then just jumping straight up.

This is maddening. Because I am insane I am trying to nab every mushroom, and even started a new game using Kero's map, marking everywhere I've been along the way. I've been everywhere there's a yellow spot and opened every treasure chest, and I am still missing one. Has anyone managed to find every one? Does that last mushroom even exist?

Gorgeous game, just such a tease for completionists.

Absolutely beautiful game. Especially nice was the music, much better than the normal "arcade" type stuff. I'm slightly disappointed I didn't unlock flight... Ah well, perhaps next time!

The first thing I thought when I saw thescreenshot was "Well this is ugly-ish"

But when I played the game, I instantly noticed the great animations for William and Sly.

Still, i'm not too pleased with the rest ofthe graphics - they don't do the great animation justice - and neither am I pleased with the gameplay itself. Platformers, no matter how beautifully animated, aren't my thing.

Ok guys a few hints to help out those struggling:

END BOSS

OK the snake at the end will pass by in pairs on the top and bottom of the level, e.g. he will open his mouth once, when passing the top, then go by again with his mouth closed on the top again, then he will proceed to go past the bottom with his mouth open, then pass by the bottom again with his mouth closed, he will follow this pattern till the end of time. You can move in front of him without losing flies IF his mouth is closed. Once you have the correct amount of flies, simply go stand in front of the rune and the end cut scene will commence. He does NOT chase you to the middle if you have flies!!!

FLYING

When you get to the pedestal where it explains how a previous person achieved the ability to fly, you jump on top of the concrete slab that is a little larger than the fox and simply leave the game for aprox. a minute, then a little notice will appear telling you that you can now fly. The concrete slab is on the middle of the concrete platform. To fly you simply HOLD the jump button and you will commence flying. Please Note: You don't fly you actually glide in a downward motion and can not fly upwards ... AT ALL. You can also not change direction as this will make the wings disappear. You cannot make the wings appear - on the same jump - after your initial jump if you let go of the jump button.

If you seriously needed to read those two above spoilers, after reading all the previous hints and tips, then you are indeed an idiot. I would appreciate it if you did not reproduce and pass on your stupidity into the gene pool. BOOM ... Nicky Out.

Fun and relaxing. The final dude was annoying at first, but then I figured there was a pattern to his movement, and there was... Then it was easy. I just wish there was more to the game. He should make more along the lines of this.

For those of you looking for the last mushroom after using the map in the official spoiler:

The mushroom can be obtained by going onto the roof of the big temple just to the right of the lever that activates Spire Bridge. Go onto the left side of the roof and down onto the tiny overhang where the top layer of the roof ends and only the bottom layer remains. Then walk right. You should go through the platform and fall through the roof back into the temple, gaining a mushroom on the way (it was hidden in the roof of the temple). The map is missing this mushroom. If you are having trouble, the temple is the one with the small tree/stump in the center. You get on the roof by jumping up from the stump

A solid 4/5. Very smooth, very nice aesthetics, a nice collection of secret rooms, a pleasant way to pass an hour. The ending had me confused for a little but the pattern's quite obvious once you look for it.

Loses a point because it could have been so much more. You gain a map and one, awesome, ability... but could have been several more abilities. You have to find three well-hidden switches (two of which I managed myself, the third I consulted the player-made map for)... but the reward is only mushrooms.

Admittedly, there is something pleasing about a pet fox whose only desires are to help out his master and to eat as many mushrooms as he can find. It's like a simple, wild life, without other cares. But then he gains the awesome ability, and it really feels like it could have been more.

Nonetheless, a solid 4. Not a classic, but a very pleasant diversion.

While I was playing William and Sly and I went into a hole and started falling. At first I was in all black but now the background is just sky and rain and I won't stop falling!! I tried restarting the page and stuff but when I click continue it just starts with me falling again! I really don't want to start over again....does anyone have any idea of how to fix this problem?

i'm really stuck on the spire bridge, someone earlier said it's on the spire island, is that the one with the sign on? please help it's really startin to annoy me, plus my map isn't colour coded

The map misses the very first key.

It is between the 2nd and 3rd runestones (counting the one in William`s house as the 1st) at the bottom of the valley there. Run to the right side and into the hole.

Fun and easy. Some have complained about the boss being too hard, but it was pretty easy once you watched the movements of the snake - creature.

It goes one time across on the top with mouth open, once with it closed, one time across the bottom with the mouth open, once more with it closed.


As for the wings,

you sit on the dais until it says, "Your mind has taken flight!". Takes a little while.

For those of you who have trouble with the non-solid Snake boss (sic), you can either do what the walkthrough says, or

just wait until all five fairyflies gather, get them all in one go and activate it. It's not hard at all.

I was both amused and dissapointed with the Rain medal. I had expected to have to climb the highest mountain and numerous islands up to above the clouds, where I would find a faucet that would turn off the rain.
Yeah, no.
As for the game itself, I loved it. It is perfectly paced, with excellent music, and beautiful graphics, and I can't wait for a sequel that dives deeper into the world.

It took me a while but the boss at the end aint to hard.
Basically if the snake ghost flys past in the top section of the temple with his mouth closed, this means he is next going to fly at the bottom with his mouth open.
And vice versa, if he flys along the bottom with his mouth closed, he will next swoop along the top with his mouth open.

To get the wings you go to the right of the sign and sit on top of the rectangle shaped box for around 1 minute or until it says so! Once you have them hold down the UP key to use and control left and right! yey!!!

once you have read the sign walk to the right and sit on the big-ish rectangle. sit there for about 1 minute or until it gives you wings! to control them hold down the up-key and use left and right to move in flight!!!

For those of you having trouble with the snake:

It doesn't matter how many flies you have at the beginning, the snake will eat them. But, the objective is to find the fly spawn areas and get as many as possible. To do this, the snake may seem haphazard, but it has a pattern. It has a closed mouth (which will not kill your flies) on the level that it will not attack on (let's say the area is divided in two halves). So, for example, if the snake has a closed mouth on the top half, it will have an open one on the bottom half, and vice versa. You'll have plenty of time to get out of its way before it attacks. Find enough flies and yeild to the snake's pattern, and you should get it eventually.

Tip for the boss

The snake almost never travels in the same spot twice in a row. Just go to the place he went last and you'll be almost untouchable.

I finished the game! I thought it was pretty relaxing up until the end. And I found a pattern for the snake.

Where ever the snake passes with its mouth open, it will pass with its mouth closed immediately after. When its mouth is closed it is safe to go there.

this games is mega balls cool i love it and the only thing i dont like is its too short, what i love about you ask? well..
i love foxes
i love platformers
i love flying
and i have a toy fox named sly
(before i even knew about this game)

overall this game combines just the right amount of foxes and kick ass.
oh yeah and everyone keeps saying the boss is hard when it really just isn't he is hella easy i generally suck at bosses and i beat him on my first time WITHOUT HELP!

The graphics are amazing, but for some reason there's this grid that kind of shows up on the terrain. It's spotty and kind of flashes/moves as I move, and is only on terrain, not background. I'm assuming it's the grid the terrain was built on. I can kinda see Sly moving thru secret passages through the gridlines and spots. Anyone else have this problem? Maybe it's because my screen isn't zoomed to 100%? I'm running Firefox on Windows 7 but maybe because my screen is zoomed out a little it looks weird because that happens sometimes.

The wings seem mostly useless. You can't get to that many new areas with them and you can't get to all the high up areas with them. It was fun enough I guess. I forgot about killing the monsters with the rune stone light power and when the game was over I didn't feel like going back and trying again to accomplish everything. Once is enough.
