Cats

Another game for you to try, this one written entirely in Flash. Its presentation and gameplay are both simple and elegant. And the cats are so darn cute.

The control in this game is very simple: just mouse over a cat to change its behavior. If a cat is walking, it will sit down. If sitting, it will begin walking. The object is to make all cats copy what the currently highlighted cat is doing.

Cats was created by Ferry Halim and they live on Ferry's Orisinal games site with so many other beautiful games. It's a treasure trove for the casual game lover, and especially for kids. It is clear that Ferry puts his heart into the games he makes, and does so with exceptionally talented and loving care.

It's really stylish and elegant, but the gameplay doesn't seem very interesting -- it's very slow and easy, at least for the first 10-15 minutes or so, and I didn't feel compelled to play beyond that.

It seems to be a bit about luck (to determine how quickly your score goes up) -- the skill required is pretty low, and there's no meaningful strategies that I can tell (save maybe "try to get all the cats in a row"). Fun broadway-ish music though, and really cute/elegant -- I swear there's some interesting games possible, relying on cats' fickleness.

Yes, I agree with you Nils. Ferry Halim is an extraordinary artist/Flash games developer and his work is really outstanding. And yet, his games are generally based on a single gameplay element that makes each one unique and fun to play, but that single element can become tiresome, like you mentioned, if there is no variety to sustain interest. The most compelling element in all his games has to be the high score list that keeps people coming back for more. That is one element in games, the importance of which should never be underestimated.

And yet I love each and every game he creates for the artistic magic it contains. He really does amazing work.

The idea of the game is so boring but the way they make those cats so cute and elegant-walking sucks you into the game. Its cute and fun and a big time waster :)

This is one of those games where I go brain dead untill I loose. Haha! I love those games anyway and I'm a cat lover so a game with fuzzy felines makes me happy

This is a really cute game. It was easy to play. However, I bored of it before I ever came close to losing. It felt like I could go on and on and on forever....and the game just wasn't interesting enough to keep me playing that long (even though it really is very cute!)

hahah beutifull i love those cats n the music fits it perfectly for suck a simple idea you can relly go for a while with out getting bored .but lol i didnt even know you could lose until i read these comments lol the only problem is when you cant keep the cat sitting down for 5 second but the game is much eaiser if you play with the aim of cats siting down to achive a constant effect of this try to make shore theres never to much time with to many cats moving this reduces the risk of swithcing the higlighted area to a moving cat relly cool i love this one kept me much more interested then some of the others
he has made GO THOSE CATZ zay RULLLLLE
