PsychotronicCyadoniaCyadonia is a new sliding block puzzle game in the vein of Blockoban or Orbox B, and well you might wonder why you would need such a thing. Especially when you first start up Cyadonia, it seems like a poor cousin to some recent entries in the field of schlepping blocks from A to B. There's no sound, the puzzle designs seem basic, and the main character is an insubstantial-looking Iron Cross that morphs and twitches in a manner unbefitting of a hero. In my humble, obviously somewhat random, opinion.

What the simple production values are hiding is that James Newcombe, the author of Cyadonia, has packed the game with every idea for a tile-based puzzler you can think of, including pushable blocks, lasers, teleports, bouncy blocks, key-and-lock combinations, invisible blocks, mines, remote-controlled blocks, remote-controlled mines, remote-controlled sandwiches, remote-controlled mirrors for reflecting lasers… actually wait. Maybe it would be easier if I listed the stuff Cyadonia doesn't feature:

Bunnies and ninjas.

There, that was easy. Anyway, there are tthhrreeee hhuunnddrreedd levels in Cyadonia, and such a number deserves to be written all stretched out like that. They are sub-divided between 20 smaller areas, and you can skip around freely between sections, though bear in mind that objects introduced in the earlier levels get re-used in the later, more complicated puzzles.

In a curious development for a Flash-based game, there is no mouse control whatsoever; even the menus are operated by keyboard. Just control your Cyad cross-thingy with the [arrow keys]. Press a direction, and it will shoot that way until it hits a wall. Your goal is to bring the Cyad to the green exit with a blinking X. On many levels, the exit block is inaccessible until you collect all the diamonds scattered about the room. Some levels have a timer.

Analysis: The downside of putting every idea you've ever had into a single game is that it might not do any one thing well. Cyadonia's puzzles don't always have the elegant, tuned feeling that I look for in my block-shoving excursions, and that's doubtless because the quality got spread out. However, there are just so many of them, with so many good ideas sprinkled into the mix, I have to give the complete experience a hearty (or rather, brainy) thumbs-up. Some of the giant puzzles later in the game are so convoluted and peppered with every trick in Cyadonia's considerable arsenal, they would make Chip's Challenge proud.

The sparse action elements are probably least successful; when you have to press a slow-motion key to help aim a laser through a wall gap, you're pretty far from Cohesive Puzzle Design Land, but if those things irritate you, feel free to solve one of the other 250 levels.

There aren't really any brand-new ideas in Cyadonia, but it borrows so liberally from all across the tile puzzle spectrum, it feels more like culmination than exploitation. My favorite part of the game is how the later sections tell little abstract stories with their little abstract tiles, as though you are making your way room by room through an Aztec temple, for example. Basically, it's just a mammoth puzzle game with an incredible amount of variety. It could be tighter, but it couldn't be much more ambitious.

FULL WALKTHROUGH

Okay, there are 300 levels in this game so, by necessity, I have had to keep this walkthrough very simple. There are no long-winded explanations and the levels aren't broken down into separate rooms. There are just the basic keystrokes-in the usual LUDR format-and brief notes in brackets where necessary. If you just want general hints, don't expect to find them here.

Notes:
I haven't written in the sub level names, just their numbers.

Occasionally I've indicated holding and releasing the shift with: [SKH] (Hold) and [SKR] (Release).

Although I've tried very hard to take the easiest and most efficient routes, there will no doubt be easier or more efficient ways to do many of the levels. But I've checked each of the timed levels using my routes and they're all doable.

On a couple levels which involve a lot of shooting while travelling, I may indicate having slow mode on throughout. This will obviously be quite tedious, so feel free to use fast mode at your own discretion.

Finally, I wrote a little application to help me record the keystrokes. It generally puts the arrow keystrokes into groups of five; but, if there are any more than 3 consecutive identical keystrokes, it shows it as a multiple - e.g. D*4. I haven't made any special effort to tidy up its output, so the grouping may seem a little odd at times. But it should be accurate... that is until/unless James decides to change something in any level.

Wow this is a great game! I'm about half way through and my only gripe is the arrow keys occasionally stop working with the only solution being to restart the level.

Having just been caught out by this 3 times in a row whilst 5 minutes into a room has made me give up for now.

I agree with schep, there shouldn't be time limits. However, it doesn't ruin the game for me, it's just irritating.

I'm completely stuck on tutorial 5 level 8 ("balls 2"), though. I don't see any way to move the lower ball, and it's clearly impossible to finish the level without doing that.

you can move the bottom ball by hitting the upper one from the right side, but that's as far as I have gotten with it as of yet.

Totally clear the entry path, then right and up to clear the top blue line, then up to clear the far right, left for the top line, then down and right, down again for the lone diamond, left, down and right into the blue, up, down, right and so on until the end is in sight

Molchanoff (re "Balls 2"): Thanks, that was the clue I needed. Maybe this tip will help you:

Once you've got a ball on the upper or lower wall, clean out one of the corners with the Maltese cross first, then use the ball to clean out the other corner on the same wall. That way, the cross ends up in the middle of the horizontal wall, and can leave.

Go left and grab the laser frame. Go back right. Go back left, and shoot the lowest laser cannon on the way. You should pick up the other laser frame on the left. Go back right, then UP. Grab the diamonds by going left, up, and right, then go back to the bottom and all the way to the left. Shoot your laser up. Now go back to the right to grab another laser frame. Go all the way to the left and shoot the laser cannon from there. Get the last laser frame and go left, up, and right. Fire up at the last laser cannon while moving right, then go up and get the last diamonds.

I'm waiting for someone to catch up so they can help me with the Laser Factory level in Alien Cow.

The way past the monsters level in Walking the Pushstops is

by destroying three of the white triangles, these are

1 directly in front of the target and two next to each other on the edge of the playing area.

Specifically the two to the immediate left of the Green Monster

Hope this helps.

Now, how do you get past the Cave Blasting level?

Cave Blasting

First, use three of them to blast into the cache of five right near where you start. I aimed up into the leftmost square of the top row of the starting area. Then aim into the rightmost square of the starting area using the remaining one from the original four, and four of the five to blast through the second part. Travel into the second part, and blast through the topmost part of the second area using the rest of the lasers.

For the next part, you need to blast through ABOVE the laser box to the left, not below it. I blasted at the second from the top straight across to the left. Go left, up, and then right and clear out the two barriers using your new cache. Then blast two more into the right wall, and then blast the remaining two down from that far right point. Get the last laser, go left and up into the switch -- when that cannon does its job, blast it, and travel down into the last space. You're done!

Phew. I hope that's not too confusing.

Anybody know anything about Not a Nice Place to Live? (Rooms of Doom 13) I get the general idea, but I'm having trouble finishing the level off after

getting the diamonds.. I understand that you need two balls to go left at that point, one to blow up the mine and one to fill up the space so I can travel to the exit.. but how?

Before you get the diamonds, spawn a switch, then go back and hit it so a ball spawns. Don't push this ball. Then spawn another switch, but don't hit it. Get the diamonds, then push the last ball you spawned into the mine. Go left and hit the switch. You should be able to get it from there.

@JIGuest - That one was kinda tough. There's really 2 parts to this puzzle:

Part 1: the first laser frame
Start by going up, so you can get the diamonds in the pen above you. Then go above the nearest push block and push it down, left, down, and right. It should get stuck on the laser frame. Collect the diamonds in the two pens in that area, then go down to get the laser frame. Go back around to the left of the push block and push it to the right. Now make your way back to the OTHER push block and push it down. Get the diamonds in the pen to your left, then go forward in the level until you run into the first push block (you should be 1 space NW of the mine).

Part 2:
Shoot downwards, then go down and collect those diamonds. Go left into the next room but DON'T GET THE LASER FRAME. Instead, go under the left-most push block and push it up and right. Then go down, left, right, up, down, left, up, left, down, and then fire left. You should be able to figure out the rest.

Room 1:

1) Down, Right, Up, Left
2) {SLOW} Right, shoot the laser as you pass above it {UNSLOW}

1) {SLOW} Up, follow the arrow to the right. As soon as you enter Room 2, blast the laser above you. {UNSLOW}

3) Down, Up, {SLOW} Blast the laser as you pass over it. {UNSLOW}

Rooms 4+5+6:

I give up, I'm stumped on Level 9, Mirrors 2. I'm at the top, diamond free, and I can't for the life of me see how I'm supposed to blow up all three bombs, I can only get two of them.

1) Go immediately up and get the lone diamond
2) Leave some of the remaining diamonds, and go left.
3) Grab a lazer and blast the movable block. It only gets in the way.
4) Get the other lazer, then clear the diamonds.
5) Go left, between the two blocks. Kill the top block.
6) Up and around to win.

Tutorial 7, level 10 looks impossible.

The diamond collecting isn't problematic, but the mines are. I see two mines I *have* to destroy to get to the exit (one right in front of my path into the center arena and one on the roundabout way to the exit) and only two items that I can make use of (the ball and the box). I cannot for the life of me see how I can get rid of both items or only destroy one mine without failing.

Grasa Total:

Go for the red key first, then the green key, then the blue key, and lastly the yellow key. Hopefully, this should help you see what you need to do.

You'll have to move the blue key over to the left before you put the green key in the lock. After that, though, it should be reasonably obvious how to proceed.

The power of posting strikes again. I figured out The Vault, but I can't figure out how to get past the push block and to the exit of the final room in the last level. Hints anyone?

JIGuest, thanks for the twisty pipes. Another head slapper. So now I can actually see the Vault. You probably already solved it, but here's the upper right corner:

First go down and knock the blue key to the right. Go up, right, up, left and knock the other blue key down. Knock the second blue key left to its lock, then the first up to its lock.

THEN travel up to the ball and knock it right, then down, and then left (ONCE). Then go up and knock the red key in, and go down the the diagonal arrow. Knock the ball over and your through. :)

I'm still working on the bottom left.

Aztec level 15 hints:

-The laser you earn in the top row of rooms, gets you into the middle row.
-In the middle right, grab the laser but leave two diamonds. The Aztec do not appreciate greed. Use that laser to blow the mine to get in the bottom row.
-Enter teleport one heading left.
-Use a laser on the block directly above the left arrow. Then use another laser to blow up that arrow and exit the loop.
-In the hidden blocks, blow up the one just to the left of the down arrow.

good luck w/breakthrough, I didn't get close..
here's some pointer's for level 15 of Boulderdash "The Big City"

1. You start in room 1 (R1). Go right, which takes you over to R2 and down to R3. R4 is to the left (get the diamonds and hit the switch, in that order), and then you come back up to R1.
2. Now get the diamond in upper left, then the one in lower right. Then go to R5 to the left.. the one with lots of sticky blues and diamonds. This one is a little tricky.
3. R5, starting from first sticky: ULUL DRDR URUD LLUU RLUR DRLL URUL D
4. Left to R6. Get all the diamonds on the left side. Then go back into R1. Stand on the red teleport (2) and go right, which takes you back to R2 and up to R7.
5. R7: First approach teleporter from the right side, then from above then from the left, then move the block up and come back down to approach teleporter from bottom. Here's the moves: UL, LLDDRRD, LDRR, LDLUDRU.
6. That puts you in R8. R9 is above, R10 to the left and R11 in upper left corner. All are fairly easy. R12 is on left side, second from top.
7. R12, first take the diamonds on the left, go down. Then go down (through R6) to R13, which has a bunch of laser boxes. There are enough here that it's pretty easy to blast all the down arrows so you can go back up to R12 and get the remaining diamonds. Just remember to bring a laser when you go back up.
8. R14 and final room is also pretty easy.

All in all it's not to difficult just Big as the title says. If anyone wants more detailed help let me know. I'm currently at 88% -- finished the 7 tutorials, Walking the Pushstop and Laser City -- and now it's time for bed.

Gee, I'm not sure how I feel about that. I've gotten through most of the time limit puzzles. It takes practice but there is added satisfaction in the end. Oh well, I guess I'll go tackle Boulderdash.

On another note, anyone got a solution for Cross Fire? I think I've tried everything.

I was beginning to think Aztec 12 (Breakthrough) was impossible, but it's actually pretty easy once you realise that...

... you can blast through the outer walls of one diamond chute to get into another.

I also have mixed feelings about the timers being turned off. I usually groan when I get to a timed level but I've found that they've not been too bad (so far) and, as Mike says, there's an increased level of satisfaction when you do get past them. I think it would have been better to make timing an option, with perhaps some bonus levels for those who manage to get through all the timed levels with the timing option switched on.

Nice tip, Antagony. Shoulda known it would be something like that.. I finally got the first part of Alien Cow 13) The Vault, not to be confused with the Vault in Aztec, or Vault 2 in Titanium :)

I had to basically alternate between moving the yellow key, red key and balls. The red basically chases the yellow.

The one MAJOR complaint I have with this game is the save feature. The first time I had to reboot my machine I was 20% done with the game, I lost all my data including my name in one of the five save slots. I replayed all the levels and was at 33% when auto update rebooted my machine again, this time my name was still in the save slots but none of my game data was saved. I have cookies enabled, I'm using IE7 on an XP Pro machine, and everything else works fine. I'm just torqued that all time time and effort wasn't saved when the game is clearly designed to do this. Other than that I love the game.

Username - Flash doesn't save your progress in cookies, it uses its own "shared object" technology, stored as local files on your computer.

If you're losing data, then you may need to increase the amount of space allocated to Flash using the Settings Manager:

Ahem, The Vault in Alien Cow was much more complicated than I thought.

You need to get both balls into the vault. I was just using them as support for the keys. I'll put a detailed summary:
Part 1:

1. Push the yellow key to the right, then down, and again to the right.
2. Now push the red key up, to the right, and down.
3. Push the yellow key down and then to the right. It should be resting against the middle of the vault wall.
4. Now, get under the lower ball, and push it up.
5. Go back to the yellow key and push it down into the lock. But do not pass through the lock!

Part 2:

1. Go left, down, left, and then push the lower ball straight up. It should now be aligned with the opening.
2. Push the red key to the right. (From the position under the ball, you move right, up, left, up, right, down, left, down, right.)
3. Push the upper ball down.
4. Push the red key down.
5. Now go up and around to the bottom left. Come up behind the two balls and push them and the red key to the right.
6. Go to the bottom right and push the red key up.
7. Push both balls into the vault.

Part 3:

1. In the vault, clear the top row of diamonds.
2. Push the ball on the right, down.
3. Push the second ball up.
4. Push the second ball to the right.
5. Go up and push the push block down once.
6. Get in the corner and push the block to the right.
7. Go down for the diamonds, then up and push the block down for the exit.

I'm thinking video capture would come in handy for these walk-throughs.

2. Push the block to the left, then push that block up and shoot it through the arrow.
3. Go back left and send the ball through.
4. Go to the right, and go through that arrow by yourself.
5. Get under the first ball and push it up.
6. Go to the right and send the other ball through.
7. Go through the arrow again. You are now "outside" the bat and solution is imminent.

There are three lasers and three blocks to blast located diagonally from the top right corner (arrow) to the X. The cake diamonds are a lie.

Titanium #15 almost made me crap my pants.

You can get through all 6 rooms without wasting any lasers. Some hints:
Bottom left:

Use the moving mine to break the laser and then use the mirror to blow the mine in the middle. Still takes timing.

Bottom middle:

DRRD LDDD R gets you to the diamonds.

Bottom right:

Do not go through the arrows. Just keep sending the ball. At the end move the arrow to your side to get out.

However, big surprise:

You don't get up the final shoot by blasting those yellow bricks, because there's a hidden block in the way. I'm going to try getting through from the top middle through the gray block. If that's all it is, this finale is a bit of an anticlimax.

Hi again. Finally got #10 Diamond Quarters in Alien Cow.

Firstly, you need to end up with all the diamonds and both blocks in the bottom. Clear the left and right quarters. Take the right-hand block to the bottom, then go straight up, clear the top diamonds and push the other block down do the two blocks are stacked at the bottom. That's the easy part.

1. Clear the second vertical line in the left-hand cell and as many as possible in the right-hand cell.
2. Use the top block (block A) to get the remaining diamond in the right-hand cell.
3. Push block A up through the hole so the cursor is just above the hole.
4. Push the other block (block B) so it's above the left-hand hole.
5. Go up and to the right, then push block A down once so it is just above the hole.
6. Go left and push block B down to clear the remaining diamonds.
7. Now the X appears and you can get easily get back up to it.

Medieval #11 (Control Room 2):

1. Move the ball to room 2. Use it to push the green key in the lock.
2. Move the ball to room 3.
3. Use the ball to hit the red switch and to push the red key in the lock.
4. Move the diamond from room 4 into the control room and retrieve it.
5. Move the ball into room 2 and use it to blow up the mine.
6. Move your cursor into room 3, get the laser, go back to the control room and use the laser to get the other diamond.
7. Move the exit into the control room.

Now i need some backup with vault 2 on titanium. Perhaps its very easy but i cant do that part with lasers on the left of the screen. Everything before it is quite clear for me.

Alien Cow (#15):

I think you can do these in any order...
Left room:

1. Go down and through the teleport (twice).
2. Break the + boxes so that you are stopped next to the second push block from the bottom.
3. Push it up against the diamonds.
4. Push the second push block so that you're under the first.
5. Push the first push block up so that it's under the entrance (aligned with the teleport receiver).
6. Go right and down through the teleport.
7. Go right and then up to take the diamonds.
8. Go down, left, up, right, up and out.

Right room:

1. Go left into teleport 1, then right to clear the row.
2. Go up through teleport 1. Go right through teleport 2, then left to clear the row.
3. Go up through teleport 1, then down to clear the column.
4. Go up through teleport 1, then down through teleport 2.
5. Go up through teleport 1, then left and up to get out.

Bottom room:

1. Push the switch then slide the block right.
2. Repeat step 1 until you can push a block down through the middle.
4. Push the switch at the bottom and go through the arrow to put the block against the left-hand column.
5. Get under the block and go left to get into the diamonds. You can now get all but two of the diamonds.
6. Exit at the bottom then go back through the arrow twice to get another diamond.
7. Go back up and get another push block. Go through the arrow again. Push the block down and get the last diamond.
8. Go back up and push down 4 more blocks to exit the cow.

I'm still working on #14 Laser Factory and at 95%.

Like omgitsgir pointed out, there is a ghost block in the diamond chamber, allowing you to not waste a laser in there. Instead, use the laser to destroy the block blocking the entrance to the last chamber as you exit the diamond chamber. Grab the last laser, go around, and shoot the switch as you enter the last chamber.

The Citadel #12
I'm not sure if this is the "approved" way to do it, but it worked for me...

Again, this is another "rough" guide rather than a walkthrough:

1st stage:
Go down to cellect the laser frame and up (shooting the mine on the way) through T1 into the room above.
Shoot the mine and push the pushblock down then get on top of the dissolving block (bottom right) and go left to remove the glue patch.
Use the three laser frames to shoot out the blocks below the pushblock.
Push the pushblock down and left to collect the diamonds and the laser frame on the right (forget the other diamond for now).
Return through T5.

2nd stage:
Go back to the left wall, shoot the mine above then go up and right through T1.

3rd stage:
Clear this room and exit through T4.
If you need help with this...

From the entrance:
ULD LUU URR RDR DLU URD LUL DRD

Return through T4.

4th stage:
Get into the top right corner, shoot the mine below and go down into T1.
You really shouldn't need any help clearing this room.
Return through T3.

5th stage:
Go through the hole you've just made in the left wall, dissolve the blocks above and shoot the block above.
Return to the room then go up and left though T1.
Again, another fairly easy room to clear.
But if you do need help...

RDL URD LDR ULU

Return through T2.

Finally:
Get to the top right corner and go down through T1 then left through T3.
Clear the blocks above, shoot T2, collect the diamond and proceed to the finish.

I just realised that I typed out the arrows in my inner sanctum walkthough, but they didn't show up. The following is a correction of the first two paragraphs of what I typed in my previous post:

Hold down 'shift', and go right. Shoot right to get rid of the arrow.

Go up, collecting one laser on the way. Wait till you are stopped by the laser at the middle-top of the screen. Shoot right to get rid of the arrow.

to the person-in-charge of this site: um. so sorry about this, but earlier on, i posted a walkthrough for inner sanctum. then i made corrections to it in a second post. i think someone deleted my first post because of that, but then it means my walkthrough was deleted too (because the second post only contained edits and not the full walkthrough)...

so if you don't mind, here is the full walkthrough to Inner Sanctum again (edited properly this time):

hold down shift, R, shoot right once you get the laser.

move up. after you're stopped by the laser at the middle-top of the screen, shoot right.

move up to get laser. then D, R, slow, D (shoot the light blue square at the bottom-right corner of the screen as you move down).

unslow, UL, slow, D (shoot the light blue square that was left of the square that we shot earlier).

unslow, LD, shoot down, DLLU LULD D(to turn off the red switch) URD shoot left LURU.

LDRD (should pass through teleport 5 by now). RU, hold down shift, move left, shoot left once you get laser.

Everyone seems to think it's too easy, but I have no idea how to do the Ultimate Tutorial (Titanium #14).

I also have lots of trouble with some time limits : Chocolate Diamond Maze (Boulderdash #9), Boulderdash (Boulderdash #13) and Trouble with switches (Inner Sanctum #9).

All the rest I could do by myself or by reading your tips...

i've gotta leave the house in a while, so i can't get a walkthrough out for you... but for the time limit levels, i think the best would be to try and work out a 'strategy' for each level? like taking note if you're going over the same path several times for the chocolate diamond maze, and see if there's any way to cut down on going over the same path several times? plus i remember that when i was doing that level, i was often left with one or two columns/rows of diamonds that were quite far away from me, so i couldn't reach them in time. then i'll try to get those diamonds first right at the start of the level...

and for the switches one. haha. i'm not sure if this counts as 'cheating', but you could do a print-screen of the level, then work out the paths before playing the level itself... i had to do that for several levels actually (oops! haha!)

are you referring to the level 'mirror prison'?

for hints:

hint 1: you can shoot out the red laser switches.
hint 2: you don't need to clear a path from the diamonds to the 'X', all you need is to clear a path to the diamonds.
hint 3: the ghost block is along the bottom of the screen.

for a more obvious spoiler:

try hitting all the green switches with your laser and the mirrors. you'll realise that each of them get rid of one of the metal blocks below the column of diamonds, except for one of the switches (if i'm not wrong, it's the green switch in the top left corner that you don't need, but in case i'm wrong, you'll hafta try out all the switches yourself, then restart the level after you've found the one switch that doesn't clear a metal block from below the diamonds)

anyway, once you know which switch not to hit, hit all the other green switches, so that you have a clear path to the diamonds. collect the diamonds. you'll now have one laser left. shoot out one of the red switches, so that you can get out of the 'box'. move along the bottom of the screen, and you will hit a hidden block. this allows you to get into the area with mirrors, so that you can get to the 'X'.

I cannot figure out how to solve tutorial 3 #15, puzzle #3 "a slightly more complex puzzle." I can't figure out how not to block the exit with the pushblock and how not to get blown up with that last bomb. Help? Help! Thank you!

hints for tutorial 3 level 15 "puzzle 3":

hint: try getting a red block from the green room to help you in the blue room.

hint 2: use the block that you brought with you from the green room, as well as the block below the grey + block to gain access to the diamonds in the blue room.

more obvious spoiler (i.e. if you still can't get the solution after reading the hints):

just before you leave the green room, you should be in a position where the two red blocks are sort of diagonal from each other (one red block is 1 space up and 2 spaces right from the other red block), and you should be standing on top of the block that is more to the right (i.e. you should be two spaces right of the gray block)

now, move left to break the gray block, then move down, right, and down again. push the red block to the left. then move right, up, right, down, left, down to push both the red block and yourself into the blue room.

now, move left, down, right, up, right, down (to push a red block into the 'hole' in the bottom of the screen), left, up, right, up, right down (to stack another red block onto the first one).

now you should be able to get the diamonds and finish the level.

clearing the diamonds shouldn't be a problem, just use the block and the ball. after that, position the ball in the middle of the screen, such that when the cyad moves upwards, it'll hit the ball from below. then, move the block into the blocking the path at the bottom of the screen (i.e. above the purple glue patch).

this means that the block clears a path for the cyad to move into the big square area, and when the cyad moves into the big square area, it'll be stopped by the ball. the ball will then hit the mine in the center-top of the screen. at the same time, the cyad can move left into the gap on the left.

hope that makes sense ^^

Boulderdash #11 Towers:

first tower: should be pretty easy, just clear a way through the green blocks, and make sure to get all the diamonds before going through portal 1.

first tower in more detail:
to get through the green blocks: RURR UURU RDRU LURU L. should be able to get to the blue arrows now. clear those (shouldn't need instructions for this yes? ^^)

then get all the diamonds: (starting from where you are directly below the diamonds) ULDR DLDR ULR (enter portal 1)

second tower:
metal balls: (starting from after the grey blocks have been cleared i.e. you are directly to the left of the first metal ball) RRRR URRU RL shoot up URULU

yellow key: RULU RURD RURD RDLU URDL URUR DRDL LU (by this step, you should have put yellow key in lock, got rid of lock, and entered top of tower, collecting one diamond along the way)

top of tower 2: LDLL DRDR DULDL (entered portal 2)

FULL WALKTHROUGH

Okay, there are 300 levels in this game so, by necessity, I have had to keep this walkthrough very simple. There are no long-winded explanations and the levels aren't broken down into separate rooms. There are just the basic keystrokes-in the usual LUDR format-and brief notes in brackets where necessary. If you just want general hints, don't expect to find them here.

Notes:
I haven't written in the sub level names, just their numbers.

Occasionally I've indicated holding and releasing the shift with: [SKH] (Hold) and [SKR] (Release).

Although I've tried very hard to take the easiest and most efficient routes, there will no doubt be easier or more efficient ways to do many of the levels. But I've checked each of the timed levels using my routes and they're all doable.

On a couple levels which involve a lot of shooting while travelling, I may indicate having slow mode on throughout. This will obviously be quite tedious, so feel free to use fast mode at your own discretion.

Finally, I wrote a little application to help me record the keystrokes. It generally puts the arrow keystrokes into groups of five; but, if there are any more than 3 consecutive identical keystrokes, it shows it as a multiple - e.g. D*4. I haven't made any special effort to tidy up its output, so the grouping may seem a little odd at times. But it should be accurate... that is until/unless James decides to change something in any level.

^^ Be warned: I don't know why, but Firefox seems to use between 1-3MB per spoiler opened. By the time I'd opened and closed every spoiler, to check they'd all come through properly, Firefox was using over 400MB!!!

Well yes, it did end up being quite a bit more work than I initially anticipated--still, only a fraction of the effort that's clearly gone into creating the game in the first place.

I generally enjoyed creating the walkthrough as it meant I got to play through the entire game for a second time, only this time trying to find the most efficient routes possible, which increased the challenge somewhat. And I don't think I would have even contemplated it without being able to automatically log and parse the keystrokes. The only problem I had with it was that the game often seemed to miss keystrokes, whereas the logger never did. So I had to be very careful to make my key presses steady and deliberate.

As for the new levels: well that is good news, James. I look forward to seeing them with relish. BTW, I've just noticed that you've released the designer! Excellent! I'll be having a good play with that as soon as I get a spare minute. :-D

I just found out I was playing Cyad, not Cyadonia. So my solution is for level 92 of Cyad. I just wanted to point that out.

I so need help on Pushing Upstairs #11. I even tried the walkthrough but it stops halfway and I can't get past the blue key part :(

does anyone remember how to solve the last part of 'escape from alcatraz'?!

Because I'm replaying cyadonia, and have got myself stuck on escape from alcatraz (that's level #11 of 'Push Upstairs')...

and the walkthrough just happens to be missing that bit LOL!

I've gotten to the part when I've got the laser from the top right corner of the game screen.. and then i don't know what else to do!

plspls help? ^^ i don't wanna be stuck here forever lol!

I have the same problem about the escape from Alcatraz! I have absolutely no idea how to get out of that right upper corner... There doesnt seem to be some box or other object that could prevent the cyad from running the whole way to the right corner, also nothing invisible. One also can't shoot anything with one shot, most things are indestructible. And one can't go back without at least destroying 2 mines, which isnt possible... Maybe I did something wrong before, but I cant figure out what...

the red switch had another effect (hint: in the top left corner of the game) besides producing new red blocks

There are 75 new levels that aren't in the walktrough, does anyone knows how top complete Laser Potatoes(Laser Potatoes 3)?

@ newcolator: Please consider adding a 'timer off' option to the new levels of Cyad 2. I've made it to level 79, but that one is killing me. Or at least give me a minute and a 'half', instead of one minute. Been on 79 for days. I would really like to get past it. Love the game by the way. Thanks.
