Locker EscapeYou're a typical nerd. And yet you have somehow managed to avoid getting shoved into a locker... until now. Stepping in to defend a new student from a bully, you quickly find yourself trapped. Can you escape?

Theme interpretation: "Following the Escape theme (and the fact that I've always wanted to attempt to make an escape the room game), I created a game in one VERY small room. A nerd stuffed in a locker... can you escape your fate? And is there more going on behind the scenes?" -ShockTheToast.

Locker Escape Walkthrough

  1. Click the top of the locker to look up.

    • Click the light on the ceiling of the locker to turn it on.

  2. Move down twice to look at the bottom of the locker.

  3. Pick up the Cheese Crackers, the Computer Science Book, and the Chemistry Book.

  4. Inspect the Computer Science Book in your inventory, then open the book and take out the Tablet.

  5. Now inspect the inside of the Chemistry Book.

    • Note the book mark that reads from top to bottom: "HOT COLD HOT HOT HOT"

    • Take a look at the diagram on the right page of the book and note the arrows pointing from letter to letter.

    • Use the clue from book mark to find the correct order.

      • If you take the first letters of each word on the bookmark, it makes H-C-H-H-H.

      • Now refer to the diagram and follow the arrows in order of those same letters: Down, Center, Left, Up, Right.

  6. Inspect the Tablet in your inventory.

    • Press the button at the upper right side of the tablet to turn it on.

    • Does that circular pattern on the tablet screen look familiar?

      • It's identical to the diagram in the Chemistry Book.

      • Follow the instructions at the bottom of the screen by swiping the correct pattern to unlock the tablet.

        • Click and drag the cursor over the circles in the same order you learned from the chemistry book diagram: Down, Center, Left, Up, Right.

        • Screenshot.

  7. Once the Tablet is unlocked, place the Cheese Crackers on top of the screen to analyze the sample.

  8. Move up once to look at the electric lock at the middle of the locker.

    • Use the TABLET on the lock to analyze it.

    • Can you see what someone has touched with their cheesy fingers?

    • The buttons with higher traces of cheese were touched first, so you can tell that the buttons were pressed in order of:

    • The middle button in the top row (91%), the middle button in the second row (73%), the right button in the second row (36%), and the left button in the top row (12%).

    • Now have a look at the lock and use the information you know so far to enter the correct combination.

      • Press the buttons on the lock that are in the same positions as the cheesy buttons in image on the tablet: 2-5-6-1, then hit "ok".

      • Screenshot.

Ok, not sure if these are bugs or not, but:

there is no sound on the armor games load screen. usually swords clanging and music.

also

I got all the way to the part where I analyzed the crackers, then I turned the tablet off. When I turned it back on, the analysis was gone, not allowing me to scan the keypad, and the crackers were grayed out so I couldn't scan them again.

I started a new game and got through fine.

Fun, simple, logical game, maybe a little too easy?

Liked the puzzles, but very short.

Even though this game was short and simple, I think it's worth mentioning the positives, in the event of sequels or future games:

I liked the idea behind the cheese crackers, and especially the twist on the bully/nerd theme at the end. Does shockthetoast really plan on a sequel? Could be fun.

For future games, it might be nice to plan some voice acting for the intro/exit scenes.

Great concept and mechanics, definitely worth expanding on. Hopefully they'll beef this up later as it is promising.

The touchscreen puzzle where you input the code is not working for me. I'm putting in the right combination and even the walkthrough verified I'
m putting in the right combination... bug?

Reply

That's odd, what happens when you press the "ok" button?

Reply

Way too short - but it makes a change from getting locked in a room! Love the use of the geeky side of things.

Reply

Hey, I had the same bug as neo re: the

tablet and crackers

, but a cute game nonetheless.

Reply

Nice idea, but I do admit that the lack of sound during the loading screen made me question my sound card.

While I admit that the length is short, one does have to admit that there is not much one can do when you have your setting inside a locker. Also, I find it rather interesting that you are trying to develop a plot. This does allow for further expansion, but I do have to admit that a bit more could have been done to keep the audience that just the plot.

Bite-sized! Highly enjoyable. I came in expecting it to be short, so I wasn't disappointed by the length. Nice, original puzzles. I'd definitely like to see more from ShockTheToast.

Nicely done and a unique concept. Too short (and easy) to be considered complete. Can't wait to see what future episodes entail!

Really innovative clues and logic! Very short though, and not very difficult. The brief underlying plot switches from from PSA simple to some sort of Bully Illuminati, but I am sure it will make more sense in the sequel.

This one was a lot of fun! My only complaints are that it was short, and also that I encountered the cracker bug mentioned earlier. I hope there's a sequel!

Reply

Short but creative and I like the promise of more to come in the future.

Hey guys, thanks for the nice things you said, as well as the constructive criticism. And thanks Trinn for creating a walkthrough! I updated the game to hopefully remove the bugs mentioned. If you find any more, let me know.

As for the length of the game, I ran into some issues that caused the game to take longer than expected, so I had to cut a lot of ideas. I'm working on an update that will make the game less bite-sized, and more like a small snack. It probably will be too late for most votes, but I still want to release the best game I can.

@ShockTheToast

If I were you I'd make a sequel with the final ideas. Leave this as a prequel if you can...

I loved it, although at around 1 minute I think it's the fastest escape I've ever done. The mechanics were good, and the logic was simple to follow, I'd be interested in seeing more games from you.

i liked this, purely because i didnt find myself pixel hunting or endlessly trawling through the same pages over and over hunting for stuff. SO many escape games, even my favourites, make you do this at some point, so yes, i would say this was my favourite so far if it were complete, however it shouldnt win because its not a game, its a sample, and a small one at that. i look forward to when its finished.

Short, simple, sweet, and sequel hook. That's what I liked about this game :) The little writing that there is is pretty clever, and I hope to see where this idea goes.

Cute little game. Puzzles were simple, but fairly logical. Nice crisp mechanics.
