JaySpace Oddity 2From the dark realm of deep space we find ourselves back on the disquietingly silent space station where we left off in the first Space Oddity, an episodic point-and-click adventure from Pastel Games. When the 2nd chapter, Space Oddity 2, begins you had just gained access to Level 3 and attempted to contact headquarters, but there was no reply. What has happened? Are you all alone? Why doesn't anyone answer?

Armed with your all-purpose uni-wrench, all it takes is a little investigation to learn that you are perhaps uninvited and you begin to feel the eerie, creepy atmosphere of the first game has come back to haunt you once more.

Now if only you could find a data disc that isn't damaged. You will need the metal pipe for that, but don't wake the sleeping beauty.

Space Oddity 2 Walkthrough:

  1. Click on the door to the right with L3 on it.

  2. Click on the panel to the right of the door, and use the uni-wrench on it.

  3. Click on the green display that says 'Access Denied'

  4. Enter this room and grab the Data Disc laying there.

  5. Go out of the room, and click back again.

  6. Click on the door to the left, the med-lab.

  7. Click on the panel to the left of this door for a close-up.

  8. Press the button at the bottom of the panel to open the door.

  9. Enter the door.

  10. Click on the monitor to the left for a close-up.

  11. Pick up the id-card.

  12. Go back one screen and click on the mirror with the medkits surrounding it.

  13. On the table is a lancet, it's hard to see, but click just below the white object just below the mirror.

  14. Go back a screen. In the middle of the room is a table that seems to have fallen over. Click on the lowest part of this to grab a metal pipe. This one is also very hard to see.

  15. Go out of the room, and click back again. Enter the orange room on the right.

  16. Click on the monitor to the right.

  17. Stick the ID card in the hole to the right. Then switch the emergency power on by pulling the handle on the left.

  18. Back up one screen. The monitors are now on. This doesn't do anything, however.

  19. Back up two screens to go back to the hallway. Click all the way to the left or right to turn around.

  20. Click on the left door. Everything seems broken, but there is a Data Disc on the lower left of the door, resting on a pipe.

  21. Back up one screen, and click on the right door. Click the panel with the hand icon. The door opens.

  22. Enter the room. You can click on the monitor twice to view it in close up, and insert the data discs. The computer will spit both back out.

  23. Click back twice, and then click on the vent panel in the back.

  24. Screws! Use the uni-wrench to take the panel off.

  25. Use the metal pipe on the vent to break it.

  26. Click on the red hole you see to go through the vent and enter the other room.

  27. Grab the Data Disc laying on the crate.

  28. Click on the right of left side of the screen to view a little cutscene and see the rest of the room. Spooky!

  29. Click on the monitors for a close up. Click on the glass to pick it up. Notice the monitor that says 'Hibernation Error'. Note the number below that.

  30. Back one screen, and click on the door for a close up. Click on the panel with the hand icon to open this door.

  31. Go through the door, and back one screen. Now enter the right room again.

  32. Go to the monitor, and insert your third Data Disc. It asks for an error code. Input the number you saw in the other room.

  33. 1867

  34. It tells you to input a new DNA sample into the eMed PC, so go out of the room and enter the left room again.

  35. Click on the red monitors. Now use your lancet on the glass, to collect a DNA sample.

  36. Use the DNA sample on the device to the right.

  37. Another cutscene. Uh-oh! And then we black out - and go back to the menu.

That's all! Hope you enjoyed :)

I feel like i've done virtually nothing and im already stuck.

Reply

I've got a little done.

Items I've collected:

lancer, 2 data discs, id card

and I've got three doors open.

Also I have used

the data discs in the reader, both had "bad hard drives" or something

Reply

Ok, This is what I have so far:

-Click on the right door. Click on the panel, click the tool, click the panel.

- Click on Access Denied. Obviously that was the best way to deal with it. Go in there, take the disk from the middle of the screen.

- Get out, go to the left door, click the access panel and buttons. Go in.

- The bottom leg of the stretcher can be pulled off, and there's a "lancet" in front of the mirror. The important thing is the ID card next to the monitors on the left.

- Back to the right room, click the right panel, put the id in the right slot, and pull the lever.

- Get out to the starting position, click to the left, and click the left door. There's a data-disk on the left side.

- Now the right door opens with the hand scanner. Go in, and use the wrench on the vent, then the bar on the fan.

- Get the disk through the fan area, go left.

- On the computer desk is a piece of glass, and the code for the data-disk unlocking, 1867. You can open the door from this side by clicking the scanner.

- If you go back through the fan hole, there is a reader on the right that you can put the disks into. Number 3 is the right one, so save it for last to unclutter your inventory.

- After three goes in, put in the code. Now the computer in the fan room wants a DNA sample.

- That's as far as I've gotten.

If anyone could finish this, it would be appreciated.

I'm also at that point but I can't think of anyway of getting further...
I've also

took the cover off the fan

but that also doesn't seem to be very helpful...

Took me a bit to figure out, I think I was just lucky and clicked in the right place.

There's a metal pipe in the main room. It's on the very end of the leftmost tube, where it connects to the wall.

Reply

problem at the beginning

it says to press the bottom of the panel at the left of the med-room. I press the button, but a message comes up saying "You Are Not Welcome Here" and it's supposed to open the door"

what am i doing wrong? is the walkthrough incorrect?

Reply

You're absolutely right Paul, sorry about that! You first have to:

Smash the panel on the other door, Steps 10 through 12.

Too bad I can't edit my post :(

[You can edit your walkthrough. Just repost it and we'll replace it for you. -Jay]

Was that, the end of the series? Hope not.

Reply

Paul, yes, the walkthrough is incorrect; see kgy121's comment for the correct method to start.

I am not real crazy about this one; the last thing you do seemed very counterintuitive to me, mechanics-wise.

Reply

Pretty good, fairly easy apart from finding

the bar.

On the ending:

So now what? Did he died? :P

But seriously, what happened?

Too bad there wasn't any real mention of this game on the PG site, apart from the forums. Can't wait for what they come up with next!

way to much pixel hunting in this one

Finished. It was very short and easy. No story to it. Feels like it was put together in a hurry. I LOVE all Pastel games, but I found this one very disappointing. Don't like it at all. Space Oddity 1 was better, although not all that great either. But hey, that's just my point of view :)

Reply

Anyone else know that this game is not up on the official Pastel Games site yet? I think this copy is a leak. They said the game wouldn't be up until later in the month in their blog. I'm waiting on a reply from Pastel Games on this.

[Yo Arcade is the game's sponsor, they evidently have a deal worked out with Pastel Games for an exclusivity period. Mr. Skutnik sent me the Yo Arcade link when he announced the game's release. -Jay]

I spent quite some time hunting for...

... a sample of the vat occupant's unaltered DNA.

It wasn't really obvious that a sample your character's own DNA would suffice (or not, I guess that what we'll learn in the next part).

Oh my, why does this game have to be so short? I liked the atmosphere in this one - slightly ominous and very "spacey" indeed. A bit counterintuitive, yes, but I for one would let this slide - mostly because I'm a sucker for anything spacey. And slightly ominous.

Game not loading for me. I seem to be having a lot of loading problems lately. I've got Flash 10. Anyone else having difficulty or is it me?

Reply

This one seems like maybe it shouldn't be rated G?

Especially at the end where it gets slightly bloody.

Thanks, Jay, this one was a lot of fun. I hadn't played Space Oddity 1 yet so I did that first. The archives/tags on here are great, and if I find a game I like I can access others by the same designer. The only problem is, I'm supposed to be working right now!

I guess there won't be a Space Oddity 3. Too bad...j

Access Denied...

*PUNCH* WHAT NOW [expletive deleted]?!

That made me laugh. As for the last thing you had to do, the only thing I found counterintuitive about that was

combining the items. I knew I had to cut myself with the lancet and put my blood on the glass, I just didn't know how. If I'd been able to see myself in one scene (like in a mirror or something) and use the lancet there, that would've been easier. It took me a while to figure out I could combine the glass and lancet. The way I see it, when you combine items like that, you use them on each other. And cutting glass with a scalpel is just silly.
