Madville When the world has gone mad with invading alien monsters, insanity isn't a disadvantage in Madville, an arena brawler/shooter by Umut Dervis. Games with one-man armies facing off against wave after wave of snarling monsters are nothing new, but Madville gives the genre a shot in the arm.

Pijaka Blast 3D Grab your bombs and take a leap, because in this strange but fun arena action game, you play a lost monkey who has to blast her way down through a floating island full of baddies to defeat the boss and get back home.

Champions of Chaos 2 The rebellion needs a hero... not to save the day, but to go beat the pants out of the other kingdoms until THEY respect you enough to come save the day. It's complicated, alright? Though some characters and a "new game +" mode are only available in a premium edition, this turn-based strategic RPG offers a who lot of quirks and combat and is a clear labour of love.

DeGrade Tired of shooters where the experienced players get all the cool weapon upgrades and you get stuck with a lousy squirt gun? In DeGrade, that formula gets flipped on its head because the further you get in each world, the more weapons you lose! This arena shooter tests an interesting game theory-ish idea where progress forces you to play more skillfully later on, although there's a flaw that allows the game to be accidentally far easier.

Planet Punch When you wish upon a star, typically you don't think of that star as being a surly, violence-loving mass of energy with planets for fists looking to pummel the ever-loving crap out of everything in its path. But fortunately for us, Matt Thorson and Alec Holowka DID think of it, and it's pretty darned entertaining.

Strike Force Heroes 2 The Strike Force Heroes thought they had seen the last of the GlobeX corporation. But they're back in Strike Force Heroes 2, the action arena shooter sequel that's everything the fans of the original could have hoped for. Though confined by typical concerns of its genre, it build on its predecessors strengths, delivering furious action and beautiful set pieces.

Color Tanks The colours, THE COLOURS! FunByJohn delivers a bouncy, riotous arena shooter about blasting other tanks with blobs of deadly colour across a variety of fun-house landscapes. Chaotic and charming, though not without its sticking points, its a vibrant way to blow up a coffee break.

Sinjid: Shadow of the Warrior Infrarift Entertainment presents Shijid: Shadow of the Warrior, an arena RPG about a ninja completing the final stage of his training, in preparation of facing the warlord who killed his father. From 2005, the limitations of the then-current Flash engine take a little getting re-used to. However, as a browser RPG, its battles and gameplay were ahead of its time, and yet the limitations of the engines gives the game a charming retro quality.

Gornax Made in just 48 hours, Berzerk Studio's latest arena shooter pits you and up to three friends (or AI controlled squadmates) against a giant angry mutant crab for televised ratings. Packed with bullets and power-ups, it's a simple game that feels almost more like a demo, but has all the action you need to kickstart your day.

Siegius Arena Bloodshed, achievements, upgrades, and the adoration of the crowd await in this bloody action-packed hack-and-slasher! As a centurion betrayed by one of his own men, claw your way up from obscurity and evade your fate in the arena. Simple to play and queerly satisfying, Siegius Arena is a little slow and clunky, but still a fun and addictive bit of coffee-break carnage.

Death vs. Monstars 2 The monsters, sorry, MONSTARS are at it again, and it's up to Death and his trusty array of lasers, bullets, and special abilities to put things right... one explosion at a time. This sequel to 2009's arcade arena shooter smash hit packs a visual upgrade in addition to more gameplay, bigger challenges, and all the monstars you can handle.

Snake Squad I don't know, but I've been told! But Snake Squad, an action-packed arena shooter by Yzi Games, has just gone gold! There's not much of a story or depth to the gameplay, but it does have a bunch of viciously adorable looking soldiers snaking their way around blasting enemies and collecting cash, and it makes for a fast-paced good time.

Commit.5 A topdown arena shooter by Daniel Twomey, Commit.5 is a game that's going to make it hard to stay in one place. As the little blue thingy in a world of other-colored thingies, you must survive as long as you can. By giving players an incentive to stand their ground for bonus points, Commit.5 has an arcadey-defense feel to it, which setting it apart from others of the genre.

Awesome Tanks 2 Who says mayhem has to be deep and complex? It's mayhem, people! In this frantic, vibrant arena shooter, blast through hordes of varied enemy tanks and earn cash to buy new upgrades to enhance your destructive power. Less a true sequel to the original and more an enhanced version of the original, it's the perfect ka-blooey break for your day.

Strike Force Heroes Strike Force Heroes, by Sky9 Games, is a frenetic action arena shooter that proves that the best way to unravel a shadowy conspiracy is blasting everything in sight. Shares a developer with Raze 2, and many similarities with that game. Still, Strike Force Heroes offers a lot of variety and customization, and even if online multiplayer is a sad omission, pwning CPU newbs has never been so satisfying.

Super Villainy In Super Villainy, the mightiest villains have grown bored after destroying the earth, and decide to have one final battle royale, arena shooter style, to determine who is the baddest. A solid release by Rob Almighty, with a little more freedom than what is usually seen in the genre.

Planet Blirp Blast aliens on Planet Blirp, an sidescrolling action shooter from Helmet Games. A very familiar kind of game, though its variety of mission objectives and humorous storyline separate it from the pack. An emphasis on grinding and a steep learning curve mar the experience, but overall it is a solid time-waster.

Mr Gunface The character of Rinse Games' arena shooter, Mr Gunface, probably heard lots of name calling when it was younger, but now that it's all grown up, it's set to fight! You control the gunface drone to save the planet against the Zenoba invasion by shooting the many guns on its face (surprise). With endless upgrades to your arsenal and 30 levels to battle through, it's up to you whether or not this ends in glorious victory. Either way, prepare yourself for a trip to the principal's office cause drones fight dirty!

Awesome Tanks You know what are always enjoyable? RC Tanks, especially ones that you can use to fire things at your least-favorite sibling. It took Emitter Critter to realize how this universal archetype of fun might translate well to flash form, and the result is the new top-down shooter, Awesome Tanks. It's nothing too complicated: Shoot stuff. Get coins. Buy upgrades. But when so many arena games are drenched with gore or zombie blood (not that there's anything wrong with that!), it's always cool to see polished genre works that are "kid-friendly" without feeling too "kiddy". Awesome Tanks' fifteen levels have the combination of frenetic action and colorful explosions that all ages should enjoy.

Gunball 2: Emperor's Revenge Ever wanted to be the king (or queen!) or everything? How about as a reason to blow everything up? This adorable, frantic arena shooter packs tons of action, upgrades, enemies, bosses, and even power-ups into one simple but explosively fun experience to keep you on your toes.

Raze 2 Raze 2 by AddisonR and Juice-Tin is the latest in a long line of action shooters with spacey-marines and/or one-word non-indicative titles. Let's count them off: Doom, Quake, Halo, Descent, Unreal, and, uh... Haze. It's surprising there are any alien-demon-zombie menaces left to battle considering how quickly we're able to deploy a near-endless supply of Master Chiefs. It's a good thing then that Raze 2 has the quality gameplay and presentation to distinguish itself from the competition.

Bubble Tanks 3 Bubble Tanks 3 takes the series to new heights by combining the best of the Bubble Tanks core gameplay with the customizing features from Bubble Tanks Arenas. The result is a solid sequel to a very popular Flash game series that's a lot of fun to play. The campaign is solid, the user-created tanks keep things fresh and the enemy editor is a ton of fun and will keep this version of the game living for a long time to come.

Shoot Pixels The pixel world inside your computer needs your help in this top-down retro shooter from Irsperanza. Customize your tank and weapons as you mow down wave after wave of enemies. If you might enjoy enjoy skulking around an arena, dodging bullets, seeking out waves of baddies, and upgrading a puny starter tank into a mighty juggernaut, Shoot Pixels will make for some high quality low-rez action.

Pixel Purge The fictional land of Pixela-RT witnessed years of prosperity. Now, a dark portal spews forth endless waves of Space Invaders inspired monsters intent on destroying all that is good and pixely. Luckily, volunteers from across the land take to the sky in small white spaceships to fend off the menace. Endless waves of enemies face down your small white ship on an apocalyptic top-down battlefield in this arena shooter from Epic Shadow.

Bubble Tanks Arenas Have some mad scientist tendencies? That's okay, so do the folks at Hero Interactive, which is why they've decided to let you loose on this arena shooter based on the popular Bubble Tanks series with some serious customisation power. Build and edit your own tanks, enemies, and arenas as you unlock new parts, and upload the results for other players to enjoy!

The Tickler Get ready for a robotic destruction derby of vast proportions, as you blast, shock, and, um, "tickle" your way through 23 levels of fleshy foes who'd love to take you apart for the scrap metal. Hold down the mouse button to activate your super-extendable tickling arms, redesigned with slightly less giggly purposes in mind, and let no man, machine, or anything else stand in your way.

Medieval Rampage 2 The tender story of a boy, his bow, and all the monsters that needed to be shot full of arrows. Medieval Rampage 2 is a top-down shooter chock full of upgrades, arrows, achievements, arrows, and fast-paced action across 25 levels and impossible odds. What it lacks in strategy it makes up for in action. Also, arrows. We can't stress this enough.

Neuron Neuron is an arena shooter battle between you and a multitude of evil, evil circles. Enemies spawn around the arena in waves, and your job is to kill them dead before they do the same to you. Kill or be killed, seems simple enough right? Now add in achievements, upgrades, perks, and particle effects a-plenty.

Heavy Weapons Heavy Weapons is one of the sharpest arena shooters we've seen in a browser. It bills itself as the "ultimate Flash shooter", and its great atmosphere and kitchen sink approach to design make it at least a worthy contender. 21 quirky weapons and 60 levels of destruction await!

Death Vs. Monstars This is the kind of efficient plotting and character design I like to see in a shooter. What's your motivation for exterminating vast populations of cute eyeballey critters? Well, you're Death, you see, and in a shocking twist, you like to kill stuffs. No city in peril, no alien threat—all you want to do is *bang* *bang* *bang* *bang* and a *clunk* *ka-ching* and take their money. A smartly-built shooter, with a clever mouse-only control scheme that lets you carve your way through the hordes like buckshot through sherbet.

ZunderFury Following in the well-trod footsteps of games like Geometry Wars and Robotron 2084, ZunderFury is a hardcore arena shooter that is happiest when it's overwhelming you with throngs of spiky blob-things. You can even spend money in between rounds to upgrade your ship, and the game comes with a full set of Xbox Live-style achievements, called "Feats", which is a smart way to personalize and flesh out the experience.

Bubble Tanks Bubble Tanks is a hypnotic and relaxing shooter if ever there was one. Man your bubble ship on an excursion through a vast bubble field seeking out hostiles to assimilate. The more bubbles you collect, the larger your ship and the greater your weapon become. But as you grow so do the enemies that you will find around you. It addictive and relaxing, a dangerous combination.
