Why is Yuuichi doing this, and is he beyond redemption? Also, you can die by jumping on a bed, there are killer princesses everywhere, and the kids constantly have bizarre conversations about very adult topics. Re: Kinder is a very strange game, but one with a surprising amount of emotional depth.

Misadventure The year is 1978. A child has found a video game they've never heard of before. but he doesn't realize that things on the other side of the screen lie waiting for him to play it. Misadventure is an action-adventure horror game by Mike Houser, done in the retro style of a 4-bit Atari game gone horribly wrong, and its atmospheric creepiness more than makdes up for a little directionessless in its gameplay.

Grand Banda When your lightbulb bursts, you might head to the store to get a new one, but that's only because you're not nearly as funky and awesome as the two old ladies starring in this point-and-click adventure. Despite suffering from some bizarre leaps of logic, a unique style and fantastic soundtrack make this short game worth checking out.

Watergate 8-bit-lovers worldwide having been searching for the next lost retro work, and Watergate: The Video Game, could very well be that. Now some may claim that this point-and-click adventure game, was only recently developed by Samuel Kim, which is why things get so hilariously surreal. Trial of the Clone After your rather unceremonious birth, you're sent to the temple of the Silene Monks, where you choose whether to be a medic, a warrior or an engineer. From there, it's up to you to make the right choices to fulfill your destiny and, most crucially, not die. But Trial of the Clone is more than a simple choose-your-own-adventure. Along the way you'll gain stat points, weapons and items, which you can keep track of via a built-in D&D-style Adventure Sheet. These come to play in battles which pop up occasionally and affect the course of the story. Battles are pretty simple: You deal damage to your opponent based on your given stats plus a random number from 0 to 3, and then your opponent does the same — the last one standing wins. Loss in a battle doesn't necessarily mean death; it may just mean being relocated to a different department (say, engineering, where physical strength, ability and charisma are less in demand).

The Queen of Snakes Though her expedition started out well prepared, our heroine's journey to the temple of the Queen of Snakes hits a snag when her entire crew is wiped out and a rock slide traps her inside. Gorgeous, clever, and visually unique, the Queen of Snakes is a fantastic point-and-click adventure more than worth your time.

Portal of Evil: Stolen Runes It all started as an innocent trip to Italy. Vanessa's grandfather, a member of a mysterious religious order, went missing a few weeks ago, and she is summoned to the order's headquarters. Once there, she finds out that the gates guarding peace on Earth are all but wide open because some cheeky prankster has stolen four runes which keep the gates shut. Vanessa must track them down by jumping into portals leading to other worlds, all the while trying to discover the evil mind behind this nefarious scheme.

a2 Developed in just one month, a2 is a remarkable achievement of a visual novel that packs a serious punch in its narrative. Sona's just going through the motions trying to run the orchestra her deceased estranged father left her, and Hao has just arrived from China to help conduct and doesn't speak a lick of English. But between these two very different people lies some unexpected common ground, and the end result is a story with real heart, honesty, and humour.

Tipping Point (mobile) Potato chips and a TV. What more could a human being possibly want? Apart from the fulfillment of hopes and dreams and all that stuff, of course. It's been several years since Dan Russell-Pinson's point-and-click adventure series Tipping Point has graced our screens. The Nightjar The most frightening things are often the ones you can't see. It stands to reason, then, that in a world where nothing is visible, just about everything is frightening. Every sound has a meaning, and every step moves you through a dark labyrinth of mental images. That's pretty deep for a bug with a lifespan under a month.

Driftmoon When you find your village turned to stone and your father abducted for a strange gem in his possession, you have no choice but to set out and save the world. Provided Mittens the disembodied hand doesn't stop you. And you team up with a plucky firefly with a code of honour. And... well, you get the idea. A gorgeously creative and immersive light-hearted indie action-RPG with a built-in mod creation toolset, Driftmoon is an effortlessly fun and funny adventure that anyone can, and probably will, enjoy.

Ms. Vision By Proxy Our pink, be-bowed alien's giant eye is too sensitive for earth, so the only option she has, naturally, is to steal the eyesight of the people around her, which warps reality to their perceptions! It sounds morbid, but this sequel to the original unique puzzle platformer is actually both cute and clever, with more intriguing environments to explore even if the gameplay hasn't changed.

New School Blues Let's face it. We've all been there, and being the new kid sucks. Help the new kid navigate through the school day in this short and sweet point-and-click adventure game. With a little help from you, the new kid will have no problem facing down school yard bullies and embarrassing jackets.

9: The Dark Side of Notre Dame Explore one of the world's greatest architectural wonders while solving a kidnapping and helping a modern day Quasimodo and Esmeralda in Play Favorite Games' stunning sequel to 9: The Dark Side.

Year Walk Year Walk, the latest mobile release from Simogo, is almost the exact opposite of the team's previous release Beat Sneak Bandit. It's a great credit to the studio, however, that such different games can be pulled off with equally impressive results. Structured like a minimalist point-and-click puzzle game, Year Walk weaves together various pieces of Scandinavian folklore to set an atmosphere of cold intrigue and foreboding mystery. It's a beautiful and very meaningful game, and quite the haunting experience if you sit down and let yourself get drawn into the story.

The Island of Earthly Delights When a storm lands an airship sailor on a strange island and his friend isn't there when he regains consciousness, finding a way home is going to be even more difficult than you might already think since the residents of this place are more than a little... weird. A short but beautifully surreal point-and-click adventure with a case of odd logic but tons of personality.

A Rabbit Fable They say the grass is greener on the other side, and one sad, little rabbit knows that better than anyone else. After failing to make his way into paradise, he's dropped into the surreal world of A Rabbit's Tale, a point-and-click adventure by Antennaria Games. Interact with a cast of bizarre, comical creatures and solve your way through puzzles and challenges in order to help our hero overcome defeat and find his true love.

Gray Help Gray get back to his UFO and keep him safe from monstrous farm animals, aggressive wildlife, and an itchy trigger finger redneck in this retro point-and-click adventure by Fitz. Guide him through a surprisingly rich, 4-color world as it changes from day to night, and solve all the tricky inventory-based puzzles that block your path. Gray has as much encyclopedic knowledge as he has snark (and he's more than happy to share both with you), but will it be enough to get him back home?

Chimeras: Tune of Revenge When a masked organ grinder begins handing out deadly fortunes to the townsfolk, it seems like a lucky coincidence that a detective of your caliber was already on hand. But do the strangely poetic fates of certain people at the hands of fantastical creatures somehow tie in with your own investigation into an old crime? Elephant Games delivers a gorgeous and engaging hidden-object adventure with style and creativity. And baby phoenixes!

Finding Teddy Explore a surreal, magical world inhabited by unusual monsters and other oddities, helping a little girl recover her stolen teddy bear in this point-and-tap adventure from Storybird. Solve conventional adventure game puzzles as well as tone-based riddles to progress through three beautiful chapters, unlock remarkable artwork in the gallery, and enjoy a lovely narrative-free story so charming that it will capture your heart and make you its everlasting friend.

Anodyne Broom attack! Also, you might be trapped in a dream. Or some other sort of subconscious realm. It's tough to tell, but judging from the strange sights and the cryptic "as legend has foretold" messages from sages and statues, there's definitely something odd going on here. Anodyne from Sean Hogan and Jonathan Kittaka is an adventure through a melancholy world that plays out like a classic 16-bit RPG. It borrows some of the best micro-concepts from games like The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, Yume Nikki, and even Earthbound, creating a world that's as innocent as it is moving and as dangerous as it is surreal.
